    Members Exiting Instances

I would really like to see harsher penalties for those exiting instances (typically do to the presence of a new player).

Voluntary exits from instances should have increasing penalties based on frequency; the first time within a certain time period should trigger the 15min delay it currently does, but the second should scale up to maybe 30-45 minutes, and the third should be SEVERE, along the lines of 6 hours or so, to sharply discourage this sort of behaviour.

The hard versions of the primal fights, for instance, are rife with this sort of crap, and it creates a very unwelcoming atmosphere for people just hitting level 50.

If they just hit level 50 shouldn't they be working on gear and darklight tokens from WP/AK/CM before stepping into HM Primals?

I have quit instances on my bard. Usually its when Im grinding the instance for the 5th or 6th time, because I want something to play barbie with, fx that missing piece of armor for the set. I dont care what the timer is on. I do something else till I can Q again. It has zero influence on wether or not I stay in the group or leave. - Btw, if you join as a group, only the first one to leave - out of that original group, gets the penalty atm.

I completely agree that only the first one to leave should get hit with a penalty. And, be that as it may, Brevity, it's shitty behaviour by virtually any standard. You can certainly choose to evade whatever countermeasures are in place, but that's not an argument against particularly harsh ones. There will never be a shortage of those who lack the patience for new characters, but the more that are discouraged, the better the end-game environment will be.

@Slambo - It doesn't particularly matter whether or not they're recent level 50s. People leave when they see the "first-time participant" message without even glancing at the person's gear, or checking their skill. It's ridiculously selfish, especially for poor melee characters who frequently wait over half an hour for a chance anyway. Very difficult to progress, and very unwelcoming.

Its a tragedy of the commons. If I'm farming for my primal weapons and a player is new, it is almost certain they will die, and if its a healer or tank, wipe the party. I have nothing to gain in staying in. Yeah you could penalize me, but can you really blame me for wanting to leave. Maybe there should be a reward for clearing wit ha first timer, like an actually relevant amount of tombs.

It certainly does matter. Is the guy who just stepped into a HM lvl 50 content still rocking his 45 AF gear? He is probably going to cost the person with experience their hard earned gil. The 1st person to leave is already punished for 15+ mins(bugs out sometimes and lasts hours) so I don't think there really needs to be any more penalties.

Edit: I get the argument for leaving just off of seeing someone is a first timer, but any player can use their eyes to see what others are wearing and how prepared they may be.

Problem is the penalty works both ways.

    1) If you are in a group who is useless and want to leave - you get punished. (not your fault they suck)
    2) If you are asked to leave the instance because of ego or elistist attitude - you get punished. (not your fault you ended up with a bunch of dicks)
    3) If someone else leaves and you can't find the replacement (See below) - you get punished. (not your fault someone left the party)

About the 3rd one, I would like to see a feature to suspend the dungeon timer whilst you look for party replacements, especially considering how long it takes to find someone sometime.
This feature works fine in games like WoW with no dungeon timer, but not so much this game.

This is the kind of stuff you have to accept when using the Duty Finder. If it bugs you that much, form your groups up the old fashioned way.

Personally, I find this foolish. Experience isn't a 100% reliable benchmark for skill or ability.

Example time! My very first run on HM Ifrit, there were three new people. Myself (healer), the other healer, and one of the tanks. The experienced tank took interrupt duty and gave us a brief (~30 seconds of typing, not that long for the impatient people to sit through) rundown of the fight. Despite the fact that neither I nor the other healer had anything better than AF gear and level 43/44 weapons, and the maintank was new, we had no problem keeping him up. In the end, the party wiped twice from multiple 'experienced' DPS not getting out of the way of Plumes and managing to get themselves hit by multiple Charges back to back. We succeeded on round 3, despite our 3/8 newbies handicap and having DPS who liked the feel of AoEs.
