The problem is ENTIRELY on SE's side of the house. All these "experts" that say otherwise are blowhards.

The only way to play the game right now, for me, is to use a VPN from Canada/US.
With that vpn i have no lag (only +20-40 ms to latency, which is playable).

I tried this morning without VPN, i logged in game, played for 3-4 mins without lag, then huge lag and disconnect. Tried again, 4-5 mins same thing. With VPN i can stay online for hours without any lag...
So, is clearly the problem is still there (in SE datacenter) for those who come from a side. Because using VPN, i get another server IP (from same server) so i enter on another "door" where is no lag... with vpn i get .32 server ip, with direct connection i get .47

I hope they will fix soon, because i dont want to use vpn forever to play a game...
    what?

how is that SE, its obviously something wrong with your isp's connection to SE, if i can get proper connection without vpn, and your VPN can get a proper connection without lag but you cant, its something to do with your either your isp or your router/computer

Same issue. I posted this on the MMO-Champion forums. SE hasn't even replied to my ticket yet...

    "Hey guys,

I've been having some trouble since a few days.

Basically I have 3-5 second lag spikes every 20 seconds. I've tried pinging a random address while playing and my ping stayed stable throughout the lag spikes in game. Other online games don't suffer from latency or spikes so it seems it's a FFXIV problem.

I've tried resetting the router, replacing it, redownloading and reinstalling FFXIV and none of these helped.

The spikes constantly happen but are most visibile during fates and in dungeons.

    Description of spike:

I'm in a fight, every one stops moving and casting. PCs and NPCs. The only one able to move is me. After about 3 seconds, everyone and every thing starts moving in hyperspeed to recuperate the time lost.

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

No, Other people are having the same problems. Recently this had just started happening with me and other people. The problem is not on my side. SE could have done something that introduced the problems that others and myself are having and yet ive just started to notice it when everyone keeps lag spiking everywhere.
