and the optimus thing.. i certainly would neverthe laptop a chance to switch to the intel hd4000 :P nah, ive set everything in such a way that it really should NOT use the intel hd4000 in any case or for anything.
The fact that i cant run final fantasy with only my gtx680m is weird and should not happen.
I will just play like this till the directx11 version and see wether or not that will help .. or now it is my only guess to the problem, already spent days looking and testing for a problem but couldnt find it so this guess is about my last chance :P (done indie game design school, media design course and atm doing ICT server-management ... but im faaaar from all-knowing and certainly dont know anything regarding the gamecoding of final fantasy :P)

Nonetheless thank you for your reply, happy to see people are actually willing to try and help''also.. Miqo'te rule!
yes i know there diffrent outputs.. Actually the HD4000 is built into your laptops processer and not the mainboard.. THe nvidia card is just A MXM addon card. The way optimus works tho is it uses the Nvidia GPU for 3d and uses the intel card for everything else.... Even if you turn off the Intel card its still using it for display Hence why the The nvidia display manager does not have anything for resolution changing .... Unless your laptops bios has an ability to turn off the intel chipset and just use the nvidia card (if it does) then the nvidia card has its own display port.

The reason for the fatal direct x error is not because it uses dx from the intel card its erroring because Direct X for the nvidia gpu cannot change resolutions for the display manager.

Not saying you cant play that way but thats why your getting weird things happening.
