Why do i have lag? :P (specs inside)

    So... ive got this:

    i7 quadcore with 3.3-3.7 ghz with 16gb ram (1600mhz)
    gtx680m with 3gb videomemory
and ive tried every driver made in the last year (atm using the 326.41 one) and also did alot of full clean register installs/wipes etc.

Playing at 1920*1080 at lowest graphic settings possible.

fps in dungeons: 100-160 (hmm.. well.. could be better but is fine)
fps in open world: 50-60 ( .. ok.. ok.. not great, but manageble .. will need improvement)
fps in city: 25-30 fps (wtf is happening here.. my eyes!)

any advice/tips/question or something else that can help?

Yeah, I'm not understanding this either.
I jump around between 25-30 FPS in a small fate, regardless of resolution.
    AMD FX-8120 @ 4.2GhZ
    Radeon HD 7870 X2
    16GB 2133Mhz Memory
    Sabertooth 990FX 2.0
    Corsair Force SSD
    Getting the same FPS @ 5760 x1080 and 1920 x 1080
Enabling my second 7870 gets me a 3-5 FPS increase.

as Nvidia user i had issues with 32X.XX drivers and rolled back 314.xx to fix - AMD users have been troubleshooting on my thread a little, one claimed a driver switch fixed it theirs, others suggest power management changes

well, i tried it all now. But nothing improved it. After some looking into it, i think it might be the dynamic shadows ... for some reason they arent working well with my drivers/hardware and probably are the reason for the low fps.
They should make a setting to turn off dynamic shadows (only dynamic, not fully).. it will allow low-end pcs to join the game and will allow me to test wether or not its the dynamic shadows conflicting with my hard or software XD (not that i am low-end, but since alot of people with lower specs have better performance.. well..)

edit: ok.. turned out that wasnt the problem.. still trying to find out why rendering players takes 10 times more performance then it should

Hmm.. tried to simple shut down my intel hd4000 and then i noticed something.. with only the gtx680m active it gave an fatal directx 1000000 error ... so. im 100% sure it uses my gtx680m to play the game... but it uses the directx part on my intel hd4000 ... it might be a directx problem.. even though i have direcx 9.0, 10.0 and 11.0 installed... my gpu is directx 11.0 ( according to geforce: Supported Technologies SLI, DirectX 11, CUDA, 3D Vision, PhysX, TXAA, Adaptive VSync ) ... my gpu is fully made and optimised for directx 11

so.. will i be able to play the game normally in any way until they release directx 11 in it?

I assume this is a laptop with optimus....

The game will use The Intel HD 4000 for 2d and your Nvidia gpu for 3d (unless you tell it not to).

As far as Turing off the HD4000 and just using the nvidia gpu... The nvidia gpu doesn't have any display port The Nvidia card passes the video back and forth between it and the Intel HD 4000 with does the display composition and actual output.

    Fyi its not lag...

    Its called low fps...

Lag would be a connection issue.

The intel hd4000 and nvidia gpu are totaly seperated and were fabricated as seperate units .. the fact that they were eventually put into the same laptop is just because they wouldnt give me a discount if i would take the laptop without the hd4000 ).. i can shut down one of them and play with the other at other games fine.. its only final fantasy that does not allow me to play with the intel hd4000 shut down (custom-made laptop)..
and the optimus thing.. i certainly would neverthe laptop a chance to switch to the intel hd4000 :P nah, ive set everything in such a way that it really should NOT use the intel hd4000 in any case or for anything.
The fact that i cant run final fantasy with only my gtx680m is weird and should not happen.
I will just play like this till the directx11 version and see wether or not that will help .. or now it is my only guess to the problem, already spent days looking and testing for a problem but couldnt find it so this guess is about my last chance :P (done indie game design school, media design course and atm doing ICT server-management ... but im faaaar from all-knowing and certainly dont know anything regarding the gamecoding of final fantasy :P)

Nonetheless thank you for your reply, happy to see people are actually willing to try and help''also.. Miqo'te rule!

yes i know there diffrent outputs.. Actually the HD4000 is built into your laptops processer and not the mainboard.. THe nvidia card is just A MXM addon card. The way optimus works tho is it uses the Nvidia GPU for 3d and uses the intel card for everything else.... Even if you turn off the Intel card its still using it for display Hence why the The nvidia display manager does not have anything for resolution changing .... Unless your laptops bios has an ability to turn off the intel chipset and just use the nvidia card (if it does) then the nvidia card has its own display port.

The reason for the fatal direct x error is not because it uses dx from the intel card its erroring because Direct X for the nvidia gpu cannot change resolutions for the display manager.

Not saying you cant play that way but thats why your getting weird things happening.

ah, you meant it like that.. yeah, that seems to be correct (though at certain games its still possible to play with only the gtx680m)

And yeah.. though the error might not be fully related to it, its probably still the directx ... atm im fully basing it on a friend who had exactly the same problems with WoW but fixed them by simply turning on the dx11 version/setting... its not much to base it on, but at least its something
