Maintenance: What are you hoping for

So what is the best case scenario for you? What do you hope this maintenance will provide? Now looking at it differently what do you think it will actually provide? Lastly I am curious (in a morbid way) assuming an epic failure and things stay the same, difficulty logging on, not being able to play ect. would you leave or stick around?

As long as I can log in and play when I want to log in and play I will be happy. I don't care about extra "free" days or any other compensation. I love the game enough to know I am willing to pay monthly for it, as long as I can finally log in. I won't deal with this log in issue any longer.-- no matter how much I love the game.

hmm... at this point with how its been thus far? hmm just that the launcher opens and patches the game lol....

The hope is that they took this long before the update because they realized their butt was on the line pending the outcome. While it sucked to wait the whole week for a change, its better than Square digging an even bigger hole by rushing servers into action that would not have been fully ready and pre-tested(they better have pre-tested the new servers).

That being said, i doubt this upgrade will go snag free. If i had to bet id say there will be at least one post upgrade maintenance to fix new issues that pop up.

Its not a bug or at least thats what I gather from ffxiv_en news. 1017 is when they flip the switch and restrict the player from playing so it doesn't crash the server/make a even more unenjoyable experience. Please correct me if I am wrong.

No, you're right. I just referred to it as a bug because it's a simpler way to put it, IMO.

I hope to see that they can at least put in some measures to make the game accessible and playable up through the free access period. Otherwise, one can point out that they're probably holding off on major fixes until after free access ends, and the server population diminishes.

What they currently propose is a temporary fix, and we will most likely be discussing this again in less than a week after the maintenance. I had high hopes for this release, and now I'm only hoping they can salvage it.
