Server full -- FFXIV Released way too early?

Not only i, but many other people have been getting the annoying error of 1017 over the last couple of days after the launch of 27th. The error means that the "Server is full" and you have to wait on an opening before getting to log in to the game. But then comes the question. How do we know when there is an opening? There isn't. And will 90% of the time never be because there are players AFK inside the game over long periods of time.

Not only is it because of the AFK players inside the game, but because there aren't enough servers / server capacity to hold X amount of players, which is sad. Also, the amount of servers that's been added to the game is silly.

Japan has got in a total of 25 servers to choose between.
North America has got 19 servers to choose between.
Europe has got 6 servers to choose between.

Who in the world made it like this? How unfair is that? It's stupid. I am from EU and would rather play on an EU based server than on an NA / JAP server. It makes sense, but instead we are forced to play on NA servers because the amount of players currently on the EU servers is too much. The servers can't hold that many players and therefore we are put in long queues / not being able to log in at all.

And not only that, there are also many other error's which have been seen. The 90000 error, the 1017 error, the 10102 error and perhaps many more.

What is the point in releasing a game THAT HAS THIS MANY COMPLICATIONS? Haven't you guys learned anything from the Alpha and early Beta's? As i recall there was an early access beta almost at the release date. That doesn't make any sense, imo. Why would you release a game that's just done with the beta's? At least take some time and consideration to look deeply into the feedback that you've got and fix them accordingly BEFORE you release a game.

Of course, this is to be expected since it's newly released, but not at this amount. There are plenty of things that you could have done, but didn't.

Here the other day i got the 1017 Error and i tried for 5 hours to get into the game, but of no luck, i just kept getting the same error all over again and frankly i have started to loose faith in this game.

When i buy a game i want to be able to actually play it not just stand on the sideline waiting for the game to be "complete" because of Maintenances / game fixes. It's plain stupidity on your side. And wow, we got a few days of extra free game play. It's not even a fitting bandaid to put over the wound.

Many of you guys will probably look at this post and say it's a rage post. Well, yeah, it is, but i know you feel exactly the same way.

And there is one last thing that i just want to mention, and that is what every other moderator or someone from the dev team keeps on saying which keeps on irritating the community.

"We apologise for any inconvenience this may cause and thank you for your cooperation and understanding."

1: You're not sorry about it, because if you were we would've seen an entire post about it and not a few lines.
2: Cooperation, do we have any choice?
3: "Thank you for your understanding". No. Yes, we understand that the game is down because of your failures, but do we accept it? No.

As i see it, the NA servers and EU servers are getting all the dirt whilst the JAP servers are getting the real treatment.

JP servers are getting treatment from SE Japan. Quit your bellyaching and demand SE NA/EU does something. Also you bought an mmo, you should have expected the servers will be full at times. Also SE didn't expect ARR to be so huge due to how poorly 1.0 was.

Indeed. I agree with you. But SE have had 2 other MMO's which they should've learned from, but keeps on going in the same direction. It's sad and very frustrating.

that's the dumbest thing I've read on the forums so far... have you played any other mmo's where people couldn't log into the game because the servers were "full"... no and I'm pretty sure your lying if you said anything otherwise...even non popular mmo's still build and design servers to accommodate any number of players that they hope would join their world or "just in case shit hits the fan"

Then you never played world of Warcraft i remember during the last of burning crusade right before wrath the ques and disconnects. the patches would cause problems and you would not be able to play for days on end and that still happens. then the release of an expansion the down times or issues and the amount of people in starting areas this the problem right now to many people trying to do things in the starter areas

I've spent $160 on this game because of SE's archaic system. Non-popular MMOs rarely experience full servers because of well, you guessed it: hardly any players!

I'm sorry to say that this simply isn't true. Servers aren't designed with "any number of players" in mind. That would be terrible business. They design their servers to handle players based on expected average populations. This is how they all do it. Why? Because the goal is to have decently populated worlds.

If they make too many servers at the start, populations get spread around initially during launch and then, as players drop off or slow down their play time (which happens after launch) you get stuck with servers that feel barren. And then the complaints about empty servers start rolling in with things like "Way to screw up SE. You made too many servers and now mine is empty!".

From a practical standpoint, it's a better move to underestimate your populations than it is to overestimate because it's significantly easier to add new servers than it is to decommission existing ones.

So yes, while I agree that this launch has had it's share of headaches and annoyances for large portions of the player base, I can't fault SE for the direction they've chosen to go. They are actively trying to add additional servers and take care of the issues as they arise. Anyone who has participated in just about any other MMO launch should not be surprised that things haven't gone exactly as expected.

This doesn't make me an SE apologist. It makes me a realist who understands the both the Technical and Business nature of MMO games.

Ask for your money back. Ill bet it would be too difficult.
