If we're going to still lock servers, can we bring back Friend Codes?

For anyone who doesn't remember, back in the early days of ffxi characters already on a server could pay a small gil fee and get a code they could then give to a friend that would allow them to make a character on that same server. This would give SE a way to keep a server mostly locked to keep a massive influx of new people from creating characters there, but still allow guilds who have all but a few members on one server to get the rest to join them.

Seriously. If nothing else they need to activate it for the point when server transfers become available.

I would agree with this. My wife is unable to play on my server and while I personally would wait she will not subscribe if she dosent get to test the game before her free time from being an old character ends. She also will not play on a different server as that seems pointless to her.

This is what a huge portion of the people spamming the login servers are waiting for. Creating more servers is great but there are thousands of people who want to play with their friends on legacy servers which have been pretty much locked out since launch. Add another legacy server or two along with the new servers then allow people a free transfer and half the congestion would solve itself.
