Thanks for the help. I wasn't aware that 1.0 Legacy members who were able to play EA on PS3 had to physically purchase a copy. I'm assuming purchasing a digital download, (if yet applicable) would do, as well.

Yep. You can purchase a digital download...but they're being limited at the moment.
Best bet is to find a physical copy at your nearest Brick & Mortar store and use the code in there. And yes, 1.0 Legacy players who had EA on PS3 still have to purchase a copy for PS3. (I had 3 accounts to test things out on, and due to doing things in different orders I had the chance to see what "turned on" access on each account).
