A thread about unobtainable mounts and legacy-perks got me thinking about the difference between FFXIV v1.xx and ARR. Whereas the discussion was mostly about Goobbues, a quote stuck out;

He deserves a +1 for perspective alone IMO, but have we *truly* missed out? ARR has a pretty damn unique opportunity for interactive storytelling, because 1.xx is still considered canon. That means every single legacy player could tell you something about the world of Eorzea before the calamity in a way no S-E-made NPC ever could. What really happened? How did Bahamuth reshape the world we now enjoy?

"Legacy" (and everyone else for that matter) CAN mean that they might have great stories of a world that's now gone - not just "they got more stuff than I did". Or am I way off the mark here?
