    Fix controller targeting now.

Targeting needs to be the #1 priority.

I find that I am not willing to struggle to play a game.

/target npc should target the nearest mob, not the mob nearest to the center of your screen.

Or implement a "/target nnpc" for the actual closest mob.

I don't want to use macros to heal specific members. Macros are not reliable, perhaps because of server-side authentication. I want to cue my Cure spell then select them from the party list using UP/DOWN on the D-pad.

The squeekiest wheel gets the grease, right? So I can't just stop repeating myself.

The problem I see is that the players who won't play FFXIV because the targeting sucks have just moved on. They don't care if FFXIV lives or dies. The only players left playing are just determined to have fun playing FFXIV. They have accepted the crap targeting system long ago.

For those that have already given up on having a real targeting system and are willing to just play a sub-par game, I'm sure that content is more important.

I clearly don't speak for the majority of players or there would be "targeting is crap" threads all time (Oh, wait). But I do speak for 100% of PS3 players who will be forced to use a controller.

We need a functional /assist command.

I won't be playing FFXIV until this is fixed. It's not fun.

None of my party members are going to die because I can't target them fast enough. I will never aggro a monster that I did not intend to (or stand there motionless toggling through mobs during battle) because of a sub-par targeting system.

Can you not do that please?

If he had necro'd one of the older posts some other jerk would have flogged him for it.

With no good options, let him do what he wants. Your advice is not helpful, he didn't want to learn. He wanted to express his already overly expressed opinions in his own voice.

He even acknowledges in his OP that complaints about targeting are dime a dozen.

    P.S. Don't be a grumple dumple.

I was just pointing out there already was another topic, another place where people feel the same way as him. Smashington went to that topic an posted. And it wasn't "necroing" an old post - the other topic was made today!

Don't be a grumple dumple yourself.

I honestly still don't see why people are whining so much about the targeting with a gamepad.

    If you're support use Targeting Mode A (up/down = party, left/right = all)

If you're killing things use Targeting Mode B set on Enemy. Worst that will happen is you'll have to hit left or right an extra time if it doesn't immediately target the engaged enemy.

If you go back and forth then use Targeting Mode B and switch between Party and Enemy.

The only thing I could see needing a touch up is prioritizing the engaged enemy group when using the Enemy setting.

This is my one and only complaint. "Target nearest NPC" means nearest to your character, NOT nearest to where the game's camera is pointed.

I also agree about the need for an /assist command, but SE has said we will be getting that eventually.

You are both quite right. I could have gone either way. I've also posted this is the correct place (feedback, with the template and Dev tags) so often that I now get an "other threads on this topic" message from the Community Reps.

Don't care. I'll throw a fit and let my intenet-cred die. Why do I care about my reputation in a game that doesn't work?

The next-gen FF MMO that I have been waiting for my entire life is dying before my eyes and the Dev team doesn't have their priorities straight!

    Targeting. #1. It's a basic.

If you don't have a good targeting system, freaking patch it in the first week! If your fix doesn't work, fix it again.

I don't give a crap about content in a game that doesn't have basic functionality. I can't suggest my friends come play FFXIV when the targeting is a frustrating mess. I can't enjoy new content. Should I stumble through it hoping targeting will improve someday? No, thanks.

Let every thread on the front page be about Targeting.

Targeting via keyboard is even more annoying. The worst is when I'm at the leve counter, there's just me and the two NPCs behind the counter, I'm standing at the right side of the counter and press f8 only to have the lefternmost npc hilighted. Or during behest when I spend a good 60 seconds pressing f8 trying to target a behest mob, only to have mobs not even part of the Behest that are 70 yalms away hilighted instead of the one right infront of me.... over... and over.... and over... I honestly have better luck targeting using the mouse which brings me to my next point, FOR SOME UNKNOWN REASON I have the option of customizing my UI in the middle of a battle. So instead of targeting a mob i am customizing where the little window for status icons goes. In my opinion, we should only be able to customize the UI through the menu, that way users playing with a mouse have more space on the monitor available for targeting..

Since we're on the topic of targeting.. we have f1 to f12... BUT we can only target p1 to p6 using the f buttons (even this feature fails so hard that I just use my mouse now) and f8 is for targeting mobs, even though the party cap is 8 person now, not 15! This should be a non-issue, just make f9 the new target mob/npc button. Also, during behest, why is it that when I press f8, the targeting allways goes past Behest mobs and targets the battle warden (ive nearly been killed or accidentally resigned from behest quite a few times). Wouldn't it make sence to have mobs take priority over NPCs??
