As I ninja-edited, you could be a WAR/WHM in FFXI, even though it didn't make much sense. So maybe one could argue some sense in that, but how about something off the wall, like SAM/SMN? Point being, they didn't restrict what subjob you could have in FFXI. Would you argue that they should have? It would be no different than restricting what classes you can use as any given job.

All I'm suggesting is that they not limit it, but rather impose restrictions that make certain classes more effective on certain jobs than other classes. Similar to how gear favors certain classes, so could jobs.
Yup I appreciate what you are saying, and I totally agree with the bonus/penalty system you suggest and I get what you are saying about the bizarre combinations that resulted from FF11's system.

But at the end of the day the armoury system and the job system are completely different and as for "Would you argue that they should have?" yes I probably would. lol
