Targetting and my tale of 2 Mongrels

I think this is one area they should use the FFX1 method of targeting. I agree completely with this post.

Why didnt you just AOE sleep on the one you're fighting? I dont get why you had to switch target at all.

I never have issues with mongrels because
1. I dont fight near other mobs, i move them a little so I can aoe
2. They're insanely weak to magic, so you just nuke the hell out of them

Even when using a mouse i sometimes click on a mob and the selection STILL targets a nearby monster and not the one my mouse pointer is directly pointing at...

What i'm most confused about is that FFXI had a decent targeting system made to work with both PS2 and PC, so why not copy that for starters? It's baffling.

I play with keyboard only, and I gave up and just reach over to my mouse and click what I wanna target mid-fight, too cumbersome otherwise
