SE please add resume for your client download and patches.

It is not fun to start downloading the client and patches (current one being of 1gb in size) from scratch. I am having this issue since day one and i know i am not alone. For some reason FFXIV launcher randomly decided to close down and then i have to start from zero.

I never had this problem with other MMOS large downloads and even if did disconnect occasionally i was able to resume from where i left.

For people who have bandwith caps this can become even more frustrating. Or atleast give us an alternate way to download the game and large patches.

Its 2013 and to release a game client with no resume capability is really odd given that issue was even brought up in beta.

This would be a wonderful feature. Albeit this is only the second time I'm officially patching the game, it hasn't been a smooth process either time. When I'm downloading at less than a quarter-megabyte per second, it actually is a big deal when the download fails.

It is not just about the download speed but various errors the launcher throws in your face while downloading. If client was stable then yes one could just tolerate it. If they don't or can't add resume function they should atleast gives us an alternate way to download game and patches.

Two of my friends had to use a torrent to download the game after 2 days of trying and failing at using the SE game client.

Very true. But that's why my download speed ties into the problem; I could spend multiple hours downloading the same chunk of data over and over again. With a download resume feature, I could spend a fraction of the time getting to that same point, watching the download fail, and picking right back up where it left off.

If they don't or can't add resume function they should atleast gives us an alternate way to download game and patches.

Unfortunately, even that wouldn't help those of us who play on the PS3. But, sure, it would at least ease the pain on a large portion of the folks having issues.

I'm also suffering from this issue... I have a fairly slow/unstable connection, so I got pretty angry when I woke up this morning to find that my patch was interrupted at 90% and when I relaunched the patcher, it started over from the beginning. I never even got a chance to play in the open beta--I spent the entire time *trying* to patch. If it's like this every time I can't say I'll want to subscribe for very long. It's not like it's something unprecedented...update your terrible updater. >_>

For people like me with decent download speeds this such a frustrating experience so i can imagine what people with slow connections must go through.

I am really surprised that since beta they haven't made a single effort to priorities this issue. The game client is gateway to the game world and if people can not even download and play how SE expects them to support their game. This should be a priority task to make their game client more stable.
