FFXIV / Tera battle mechanics

Sigh...all this discussion of other MMOs makes me long for the good old days of playing an MMO because I actually felt I had something to look forward to from playing it.

I want to want to play XIV, but it just doesn't give me that "Gotta play it!" feeling...

I actually like the game, but for reasons other than playing it. I'm a bit of a graphics snob, now, so the game really appeals to me aesthetically. And I RP and found myself a brilliant linkshell. So, I make my own fun and just use FFXIV as the medium for it. Kind of stupid that I have to make up my own reasons to play, but it is what it is until FFXIV gets back on track. Or finds the track, for that matter.

I played for less than a month when the game first came out, 'cause no one spoke outside of linkshells, I wasn't sure what I was doing, everything was stupidly complicated, took too long, and I never found a good linkshell to hang out in.

Liking it a lot better, now, but hopefully it'll just keep getting better.

Tera and those other games are still many months til release. FFXIV will most likely be a lot better by then. They already have a lot planned for it in the coming months.

The difference is we can at least still play it, for free even. Other companies would have just shut it down while they work on it, then there would be only new beta testers probably.

Yes, but that doesn't mean that those other games won't get even better than they are now.

Tera is already in widespread release in Korea, and it's a B+ right from the start.

It's been 6 months since release, and Final Fantasy 14 has gone from a D- to a D+

Is it gonna take another 6 months for the game to get to a C grade? I sure hope not.

I'm liking the patches and the changes so far, for the most part. However, at this pace, they are gonna have a really rough time catching up to the other games in quality by the time they have their NA and EU releases.

The difference is we can at least still play it, for free even. Other companies would have just shut it down while they work on it, then there would be only new beta testers probably.

I think a lot has been done 6 months after release, it only took changing development teams to a more experienced one to get the real changes started. From the short time Yoshi-P has been at the helm I'd say a lot has been done so far. Since theyre pretty much redoing the whole game, just think of it as FFXIV hasnt really been released yet. But, we still get to play it. For free ^^

It's not. If you aren't paying attention (all of your party members, not just the tanks and the healers) and actively evading attacks and moving yourselves for optimal striking position, you will get destroyed.
