Does anybody know if the PS4 version of the game will be given to current PS3 users? Or would it be given at a heavily discounted port such as other titles like CoD etc.? Anybody's thoughts?

i'm hoping for a CE ps4 edition myself lol
1 Ps4 isnt even out yet
2 SE has bigger problems than giving ps4 version update info.
i would like them to release more info on when they are planning on releasing the PS4 version of the game. Im really looking forward to playing this game on PS4
it has already been announced at E3 last month. March 2014
Nothing's been given to us except extended trial time. No, they aren't going to just give you a PS4 copy because you got the PS3 version. Just like how they didn't give PC players free PS3 copies. They really have no reason to. All the sentiment over wanting a free PS4 copy is based on some odd notion that PS3 players got some kind of bum wrap and that the PS3 version is XIV's red-headed stepchild primed for a backhanding. I'm playing on the PS3 even though my laptop could run the Betas at near max settings. Why, cause I wanted to. I wasn't forced to play it to free up PC server space because the servers don't work like that. I even got the PS3 CE (and gave the registration code to a friend only to wind up actually needing it and having to go out and get another PS3 copy just to register). I don't feel cheated in my decision one bit and, if I had the opportunity to do it over again, I'd do it exactly the same.
While I think its a nice idea that both Sony and Microsoft are coming up with ways to allow you to purchase the current gen version of certain games and then upgrade the the next gen versions, you do realize that you are actually paying more for the next gen version in the end right? Both companies have said it will be a $10 upgrade fee , so $60 for the PS3/360 version of a game and then $10 for the PS4/XboxOne version = $70 , or simply wait and pay $60 for the PS4/XboxOne version
There is a lot of bitterness in that post LOL like i said, i was just wondering since other titles have HAVE enabled cheap ports to ps4 to ENSURE the ps3 market for the holiday season does not crash due to the impending release of p4.Nothing's been given to us except extended trial time. TLDR
if you bought it through the playstation network as digital download, then it makes sense that you can redownload it through your playstation network account when you get a PS4
that may be true for activision games and other companies that are releasing the same game within 1 or 2 months post ps4 release.. HOWEVER.. FF14 for ps4 was not going to be released in such timely fashion.. it is estimated at least 6 months from ps3 release. While I think its a nice idea that both Sony and Microsoft are coming up with ways to allow you to purchase the current gen version of certain games and then upgrade the the next gen versions, you do realize that you are actually paying more for the next gen version in the end right?
