This will be the problem..The problem is if they make mods for the boss encounters we may face down the line, people will start 'requiring' you use them to join a raid or HNM group. Like how people 'Require' you to use vent to be in their LS's already (I am in no such LS >.>). It wont be a matter of optional use for long.

Man i hope they dont add this ...

Mods are usually made by players for players, most of these make our lives much easier. If u want them u use them, otherwise not. Every person have its own tastes and would like to make this game look/work like they would like to.

Is this a fault of the UI mod itself, or of the people and the way in which they use/misuse them? The problem is if they make mods for the boss encounters we may face down the line, people will start 'requiring' you use them to join a raid or HNM group. Like how people 'Require' you to use vent to be in their LS's already (I am in no such LS >.>). It wont be a matter of optional use for long.

Mostly the peoples. But, the presence of these mods and the ability to use them can change people. Kinda like money.
I'm sure they will add the ability to use similar mods that will eventually be designed for FFXIV. We can only hope the communities don't mutate negatively as a result.

I'll never understand why anyone is against adding features that allow for more customization options. I think Warp is right that the PS3 release will prevent any mods from becoming "must-have." Once the PS3 version is released, the PC community will be the minority. There may be mods available for PC, but they will unlikely be available for PS3 unless officially released as DLC or something similar.
One thing I would like to see added is collectable themed frames, like in Chrono Cross. They could be obtained through quests and enabled through the configuration to provide different UI themes, like a jungle theme or whimsical ones with chocobos and moogles.

Do you guys know what they mean by UI mods? You assume it's all these extra mods and everything. I read it as a graphical/layout modification. Maybe I'm naive in that but being able to change the layout and/or appearance of the UI is different from what you guys are assuming. The first I'm all for, the second not so much, and until they say exactly what they mean by "UI Mods" (which, with SE, could mean something completely different from most peoples assumption) I'm going to hope it's just graphical/layout type of mods.
Not saying you're wrong, but until they actually give details I'll remain hopeful about it.

Personally I just want the ability to chose an VII styled UI
I have to thank Square-Enix for the amazing job they have done recreating Final Fantasy XIV from Scratch. Especially the inclusion of Missing Genders which we petitioned for in good faith. This was proof to us players that the Developers are truly Sympathetic to our requests and that being honest and vocal can pay off with the amazing characters we have who are Female Roegadyn, Male Miqote, and Female Highlanders. Thank You SE, Thank You Community Team, Thank You Yoshi-P.

When i see moddable i immediately think mods. there is another thread for Customizable UI, Which is something i would like. But modding is another monster of customizing.
