Games open the patcher early to reduce the overall pinpoint load for updating, it also means people can already be ready to play when the servers do open up, most people like it this way.

It's about 1GB patch for the PC, that is a lot. I wonder what they are adding to the game? Maybe we have some improvement and content patch in the game? Early to say, but 1GB can't be just some simple server log in fix.

I prefer it this way so when the server is up, there will be less stress on the server as well as ease up the traffic and not to mention that if you are lucky, you can log in straight away.
