    Summoner won't get full sized primals. The full size primal mechanic is going to be available to everyone in the game and to the person that gold medals the fate version. The FC build up a gauge and once its full the person who has the item to summon the full size primal can do so.

    Fester is not effected by Miasma II at all. It only works with 3 DoTs. Bio, Bio II and Miasma. So no, for the mana cost and being in range of the mob, Miasma II isn't worth it, it doesn't change your rotation at all aside from, you guessed it, more fucking Ruin spam. You can like the class, that is cool. No one is trying to tell you to hate it. We don't like how they put SMN in an mmorpg the way SMN wasn't meant to be played. I personally would rather them have not made SMN at all. Once again, keep liking the job if you do, we don't, and you trying to use terrible rationalization isn't going to change that. The class functions. The problem is we don't like it, it's not actually a SMN. Nothing you say will actually make it a SMN either.

    The problem is we don't like it, it's not actually a SMN. Nothing you say will actually make it a SMN either.
    They really could've named it anything, but instead they decided to name it something that it's not, in any way. It's really disappointing.

    One thing is certain: there are more SMN threads here than any other job`s.
    And another this I know for sure: SMN can put out good DPS and also good group utility in the hands of a good player. I do not main SMN, but I`v been in groups with a few good ones (and a lot of bad bad terrible ones).

    This thread is not about their dps but how they were designed to be a DOT class instead of a class that works together with the pet. It is true majority of the topics are about summoners considering the amount of a debate I know summoner is going to be changed somewhat in the next balance patch.

    SE will probably lower enkindle CD , change fester or energy drain to allow SMN to have some burst and let smns control the pet while casting

    SMN wont be reworked im afraid

    Why do you think I re rolled to a black mage? Personally I am glad that I did because I like to delve into the lore of the games I play the summoner quest was a sheer disappointment. In a lore standpoint and gameplay. While scholars are talking about their class quest all the time and you know they actually work with their pet.

    Black mage class quest is MILES better. The summoner quest just comes down to grabbing your pet and dealing with a summoner I don't give a crap about here I was hoping for learning more about the primals themselves. The only interesting part was a guy(won't say who) showing up for like 10 seconds.

    While the black mage has you dealing with the void and how your powers are connected to it and it raises interesting questions about the villains of the main story. Plus overall the story is quite sad and you learn black magic from someone I did not expect at all. I keep saying it lore wise black mages are warlocks.

    First off, SMN or summons, outside of XI, have not been pet classes/pets. Yes in X, XII, and XIII they stuck around a little longer, but be honest, you were not usually using them for that part, but for the massive burst damage or unique effects they provided or to exploit elemental advantages. And it was not very often either due to MP restraints or some thing else that limited their use.

    Now with MMOs, how do you effectively tune that kind of burst without making the class overpowered or useless a majority of the time?

    So with the weaker egi's which to me seem like just a fraction of the primals, what if their more signature moves with the insane burst or utilty were tied to the limit break system? Would that help bring the traditional summon feel back to SMN for you guys?

    While I have yet to unlock SMN, been having a blast on ACN. So I can't comment on the more endgame aspects of ACN, though I totally agree with the DoT focus, as it allows you the time to manage your pet, off heal, or focus on extra DD as needed. Other than the non-summoner feel been hearing about, I find the class well designed, and so far it seems to be avoiding most of the problems XI's DRG, PUP, BST, and SMN had. Will be interesting to see the first set of balancing changes.
