Uhhhh you know whats funny FFXI turned rdm into a cheesy mage class, and people think thats what its supposed to be. Its supposed to be a class that can do magic AND regular attacks. Its not supposed to be this guy in the background casting refresh on mages and debuffs on mobs, generaly in final fantasy lore, that would be a green mage.

Green magic never existed, let alone green mages, until Final Fantasy XII came out. If there was a green mage class, it would be too restricted in its abilities and wouldn't be a decent fighter all by itself.

FFXII listed green magic as spells like Protect and Shell, Silence, etc., which all traditionally fall under white magic, some under black magic (like Blind...was that green magic in FFXII? can't remember too well).

Personally I think people should let go of FFXI. Let this game flourish or faint on it's own.
I have not played FFXI and it's pretty annoying to see these FFXI veterans who think they have special rights in this game or the forum.
Just wait for the job system to come first and let them come up with new ideas instead of recycling the old ones. Maybe it's for the better, who knows?

actually your right, they called it green magic in 12, in 6 is was actually called effect magic, but yeah rdm was only the master of status spells in 11.

So you fight with billboards? [about a true sentinel class, with two-handed shields]

At rank 1 maybe, if the developers have no creativity. At rank 20+, you would get crazy, highly fantastic, cool looking "billboards" (to use your word). It's ok, I understand this class would not be for everyone, just like the current classes are not for everyone anyway (in term of tastes and game play).

Too bad they are systematically destroying the positioning-related combat mechanics.

Yes I know, it's a shame isn't it? I really hope, with the next battle system, they reinforce the positioning-related combat mechanics.

Here is what battle will be like now:

• Person uses provoke
• Ugly red orb flies at the enemey and suddenly the enemy can't attack anyone else in PT
• /auto attack /auto attack /auto attack
• have a nice chat in LS about the weather and other things
• /auto attack
• roll on loot

If combats is to become like that, isn't it a major step back in term of MMORPG combats? And, would be too much like FFXI's combats, which were very repetitive, to say the least.

The lancer class in TERA is similar to what you are asking for. And similar to what everyone else has been asking for except for the FFXI fanatics who always get their way.

I'm not knocking the class, I'm just not sure how to make a two handed shield feasible in combat, Or what would keep a mob attention focused on it without silliness.

And hey, that the classes are not for everyone is why we can have so many of them!^^

Except what you are agreeing too is removal of the core system of XIV that makes it fun. You don't have to do that to implement Classic FF JOBS. Because whats in XIV right now are WEAPON CLASSES. Please do not confuse the two.

Also Monks are NOT hand to hand specialists. They are Martial Arts and Chi Specialists. White Monks are the added bonus of a Monk who can use small forms of White Magic.

Monks can use Fists, Kicks, nun-chucks, Staffs, Clubs, Spears, and Throwing Weapons.
They also Self-Heal, Throw Balls of Spirit Energy, Buff up their bodies to withstand an attack, and heal their allies.

Pugilist Specialize in Fist Weapons.

They are NOT mutually interchangeable.


Again, Peregrin in my system there is no Pre-reqs for Leveling a Job. There is nothing to level on the Job. The Job just dictates what type of specialization you chose. And gives you bonuses for staying on that path.

I dont care what path they take as long as i can see some of the classes i love added i'll be happy.
