voix dans le jeu (Question for the French community)

    salut, comment ça va?

(Sorry, my knowledge of French is limited, so I'm going to post this in English, but I specifically wanted to ask this to the french community)

I wanted to know, since this is one of the few games out there that has voice acting in every language supported, what do you all think of the French voice acting? There has been tons of debate about the English/Japanese voiceovers, but I have heard little in regards to the French/German ones. (The English voiceacting is decent overall - some of it is very good, but certain characters were a bit iffy)

So I ask the people to whom it is most relevant: How is the French voice acting? Did they do a good job with it, e.g. do the characters sound appropriate to you / do they use enough emotion / do they speak proper french? and I'm curious if they use modern french or if they use a lot of older / more "grandiose" (if you understand) language?

Ok try to respond in english same he is bad.

The french voice version i pleasure.

They word used is in the time air (modern french), i have see all the main quest and i can said it's a good factory.

The emotion is present, for me it's was a great moment to listen the story in my language and wich they continue to give use the same quality in the futur and guard the humour in the history (and in the game) it's very good.

I only hate Papalymo voice, it's a personnal feel tho (Thancred also look a bit weird for me).
Other than that, they did great job on voice acting. They tend to use modern french.

Voices acting in french is average and random. Some characters have a nice voice close to what we imagined. But sadly, the main problem is not acting it's spelling. As we were used to only read name there's a lot of spelling different from what we all imagined.

For exemple Thanalan is spelled "TAnalan" but Thancred is "SANcred" like in English, and it's not logical. As i heard all others language too, i found the same problem on English and german version. Japanses version is awesome !

They also use two way of saying Sahagins. (but not with the same character, so maybe it's on purpose, or not...).

One spelled: Sahag-1 (like sanguin in french), the other spelled: Sahag-ine (like sanguine in french).

The way they spell Thancred also, We're more of using Tancred (like tank) instead of Thancred (like Sang).

I tryed voices in french and japan and I loved them, but I used to play with japan voice

Actually, the English spelling used is accurate and natural, but there is pretty heavy use of "Old" English, which means there are a lot of terms used that are very odd to modern speakers (The most common of which being "must needs", which I had to look up in a dictionary to find that it is an archaic phrase that was once in use).

I prefer to use my native language for the sake of understanding, so I have not touched the Japanese voices. Interesting enough though, I do agree iwth the comment about Papalymo, he sounds very weird (and annoying) in the English version as well.

It is good to know that it sounds from everyone's comments here like they put a good amount of care and attention into the French acting. I wanted to get your perspectives since it's hard to formulate an opinion when I'm not a native speaker (Same issue with Japanese, which I don't understand at all). C'est magnifique!

I'm very careful regarding voice acting in video games. I personally think that is a major necessity for a full and complete immersion into the lore and universe of the game. For example, one of the best voice acting I have heard this year is the one of Bioshock Infinite (not the same kind sure but a good comparison I suppose).

About FFXIV, if there is a huge effort made from SE about it, I think that the voice acting is too childish and random to be totally efficient. Papymalo and Ida for example sounds weird to me. I tried to use English but after a couple of cinematics, I switched to Japanese.
I have a lot to say about this but my core opinion is here
