I am currently leveling mnk and with the current rotations I am using it kinda seems pointless to use macros on this class unless I am trying to stack some buffs. What do you guys think about the use of macros in this game?

With consecutive macros you can put all six of your primary rotation skills on two buttons, but if you button mash those macros they waste GCDs and entire form chains by casting out of turn. Even if you only click a couple times to prime the button before GCD ends it can waste a GCD. I've tried putting small wait timers at the beginning of the macros, but it still happens. Having multiple form dependent abilities on a button doesn't work well with perfect balance, either. If abilities have to be put off to the side for perfect balance then you might as well not use macros.
I would use these if casting out of turn wasn't an issue:
/ac "True Strike"
/ac "Demolish"
/ac "Bootshine"
/ac "Snap Punch"
/ac "Twin Snakes"
/ac "Dragon Kick"
/ac "Rock Breaker"
/ac "Arm of the Destroyer"
I do like macroing Shoulder Charge with Steel Peak.
Macroing a few cooldown abilities (Mantra+Second Wind, Internal Release+Blood for Blood, etc.) can be helpful.
Also, the monk GCD timer is too erratic for chain macros to be used effectively.

I can't really say i've ever played a game where rotation macro's really seemed to be a thing, if it were possible i'd probably say the rotation's design was too static.
If i had to come up with some good DPS macro's, they'd just be conveniance things, top of my list would be one to automatically switch my target to the tank's target, though i don't know if FFXIV has a /focus command or anything. branching off of that also a macro that targets tank then casts cure for an emergency off heal. Other than that i don't really know. all i ever did in v1.0 was make class/gear switch macros and those are kind of uneccessary with the gear set UI. I've had a mechanical keyboard with macro keys for awhile now. can't say i've ever used them and i don't really see that changing with this game.
/wait
let's say the GCD is 2.5 for all these abilities, your macro spam/rotation would be something like this:
/ac "True Strike"
/wait 2.5
/ac "Demolish"
/wait 2.5
/ac "Bootshine"
edit: and you click the macro once until the whole serie of abilities activated to avoid the problem you mentioned.

Decimals no longer seems to work, so 2,5seconds becomes 3 seconds./wait

Seems to work here. If I set, say, the /wait to 2.4 the next action doesn't start, but if I set it to say 2.5 the next action do start.unless... they changed it to 2.5+ rounds to 3 and 2.5- (2.4-) rounds to 2.
if that's the case, it's pretty dumb with the introduction of "Skill Speed" if that even do anything extraordinary to the GCD.
EDIT: Yes, there's a ugly .5 delay.
