Saying this is exactly what will actually need to happen to not have gil sellers present at all in the game... I'm sorry if the truth bothers you... People post this because its the plain honest truth. STOP BUYING GIL!! If there is a market for gil and the net profit is always higher than the loss taken from buying new games/accounts... RMT is here to stay.. like it or not.

Several good points. But no idea alive will stop them save this one: Find their IP. And Nuke their House. Once one city is down people will be using peer pressure along with fear to stop them.

kk that's over extreme (I do like overpowering things that I hate with super mean power) but its as good as all the other ideas. XD Like someone mentioned and as mentioned in OP's post simply can be circumvented and thus exploited by the Sellers. SE's idea to allow us to not trade among our charas was pointless. (And I circumvented that one by having a FC and a few family members who play as well. [Insert family with trusted friends and you too can have two chara sharing most of the stuff you want to share.])

There are several reason why your idea won't work, the least of which is that it's a terrible band-aid fix to a much bigger problem, and RMTs will easily circumvent your band-aid fixes. For my reason why it wouldnt work, (where I said that ppl can just put cheaper items for a LOT of gil and have the RMT buy it), you suggested putting a cap on each and every sellable item in the game. Who gets to make those decisions? What stops the player from putting up 99 ash logs being sold for 1000 gil each? How/when will SE adjust this cap during the eventual inflation of the game as the months pass?

How many resources will SE have to expend to implement your bullshit fix? How will player's sell their extremely valuable items that they want to keep off the AH (to avoid ah tax)? What about players that want to sell directly to a client periodically or at a discount price (yes, it happens)? Your removal of the "ability to trade gil" feature is not feasible, and is a terribly short sighted fix to a much bigger problem.

I love the nuking idea but i'm trying to keep it civil lol. I don't see why my idea won't stop them in a veyr big way. give them nothing to sell.

The only problem i see now is power leveling.

These are the good points against my idea which need to be discussed further. GM mods can be involved in order to trade ridiculously good items possibly. Or have some third party mod to help you with that.

The amount of resources they will expend is nothing compared to paying people around the clock to ban accounts that keep popping up. Even if my idea does cost just as much money it will be a much better fix than banning accounts that will then be rebought with the money they used to sell gil.

Please don't get agro. It makes your point less valid and you seem immature. I'm simply suggesting something to try and fix this problem everyone and even SE face.

Honestly the only way to get rid of gil sellers is to devalue it in-game. As long as people are lazy and not willing to farm, there will always be people willing to spend real currency for digital currency regardless of the game.

Out of genuine curiosity I checked several gil selling websites and they're already going cut throat. After refreshing at a casual basis I saw the prices of a few websites undercut one another by pennies at a time until another site undercut by almost $5 before it stopped entirely.

No it doesn't. And that economy sounds extremely awful. There are still ways around it. That just means more rmt /tell spam because they'll simply up the number of accounts and raise the prices on the gil to make up for it. They won't even "return" they'll simply increase in number rather than disappear and come back.

Blisting and reporting them* thus getting them banned on a server that is full, gets rid of them. They're gone and can't come back due to the server being full. "They'll just buy existing characters!" Well, they won't be able to do that forever.

P.S. It's irritating to have to return to the op just to read responses. I understand adjusting the first post to summarize the thread so people don't have to read every page but, you could make actual responses so there's something to follow.

Edit: Do you work for EA?
