YUP.
The in Alliance B was the first to die before Everyone. Alliance C's abandoned first, followed by most of the alliance.... it was down to two DPS at some point before a wipe.
Dark Knight? More like Tissue Paper Knight.
I've noticed something similar to this.
I don;t know anything about their abilities but I assume they have CDs like every other tank job, yet I have not seen a one use them.
An example of this was when I was doing my first run of Stone Vigil as a AST earlier today. The DRK died a total of 7 times, more than I have ever seen anyone die ever out side of raids. At first I thought it was because I was getting use to how AST works, and how it heals, but by the third time I knew it wasn't me. I was throwing everything I had at him, once I even did a string "combo" of Bole -> Benefic -> Enhanced Benefic II -> Essential Dignity -> Aspected Benefic and he STILL died to the mob of three enemies. The first boss killed him in three hits and me and the two Mechinists fought it without him because he returned to the start. I ran out of MP 3 times and I was using Luminiferous Aether every chance I had. It was messy, and the worst run of Stone Vigil I think I ever had.
Edit: I didn't even DPS. This is the first run I have ever done where I couldn't even throw out an Aero.

Went into Sohm Al with a pugged 56 DRK - they played much like I've seen experienced WAR.... and didn't have too much problem o_oa I think it's just the player or people adapting, at this point - and possibly people with no prior tanking experience going straight from 30-50 (and higher), rather than 1-50. Possibly running Fates/leves and then MSQ/Sidequests the majority of the time.

No pb with drk here either. In fact, I had an easier time with the DRks I met than plenty of war/pld I ´ve seen in the past.
Not my story but I got to watch it yesterday - trying to heal Keeper with a i100 warrior who kept turning Defiance off....
For dark knights, they should have Grit on constantly unless they are off tank. A lot of the issues healing them may come if they are relying on Walking Dead too much - if you don't get them back up to full within 10 seconds it's an auto-KO.
A lot of the DKs have been coming in under geared in the dungeon roulettes. As such, I had to do a run where the DK had 1 less hp than me. I could not spare a single global cooldown to use buffs or heal the DPS. If not for essential dignity it would have gotten ugly at times.
Player
With the mp costs going up by about 250% and my mp only going up by 100%, mp efficiency is so important. Its good practice from the days of being way overgeared and just being able to keep Med II up full time.
But.... In HW, everyone seems to be allergic to SS, even on swiftcast. And the tanks seem to think because you have 9.5K MP total that pulling new bosses when you are at 50% is just fine...this is getting annoying. The DPS seem to be used to not having to dodge anymore either.
In my first ravan run, had a drk and a pld. Someone asked the drk if he wanted to MT and he went "lol no, I'm a dmg tank, better for OT." Halfway through, pld went flying off the edge, so drk took over. He was a breeze to heal and we cleared it fine. Said he guessed he could tank and we all agreed.![]()
Same, pretty good with DRKs during the HW dungeon train to 60 for the most part. As I play PLD often, I can tell almost all of them played a tank somewhat regularly. About the only thing I can say tanks are mainly coming in under geared and still wanting to pull like they are overgeared. Which I don't mind because I want to push my limits too in the heal+dps arena. But that dread or IW gear defensive effectiveness really starts to fade around The Vault.
I only had one DRK that I can tell was "newer" in the world of tanking. Maybe they FATEed their way to 50 because some of these habits would have gone away in LL dungeons. Like 'lets not use any CDs for big mobs' to 'Oh here this is where I'm going to use them, popping CDs while pulling the boss.'.

So.... the majority of DRKs I've healed in HW content have been completely fine. Ran a Roulette into Stone Vigil NM with a 'at level' DRK... and finally experienced what everyone's disliking about healing one D: I didn't check their gear (probably undergeared like someone mentioned was a recent common trend), but I was highly unamused. It was pretty much a nonstop cure/cure II fest. >_> Do anything else for a few seconds and it got scary.
When I could, I ended up non-cleric DPSing a little. I was sad inside. I don't think I healed that much (like, dangerous to even heal another party mate) on at-level other tanks, even when I was lower geared.
My horror story.... trying to get three FC Mates through Bismark (just at separate times).... went through several abandoned DFs to get it (yet, my first time in, it was beaten no problem...). THe snakes (I forgot what they were really called >_<) weren't going down fast enough, or tanks kept falling overboard right before the snake phase, another time a DPS fell overboard within maybe 15 seconds of the fight, so a tank purposely jumped overboard which meant it wasn't going to work, no matter what... DPS checks weren't met on the snakes or, at one point, didn't kill him fast enough at the end (after the snakes) - and even sooner if I was unable to really help add DoTs................because there is always those guys that just refuse to dodge (was so tempted to just let them die and stay dead, for the good of the rest of the party/my mp x__x;... *Hates being mean*). Another point, a huge chunk of the party all died at once from lightning (I think no one got the vapor bubbles).... and again in a separate attempt from what I think was the same issue...
I was sitting there, in those attempts, wondering "why did I get so lucky the time I went in for my first, and now it's like luck of the draw that we even make it passed the snake adds??" >_<
I have a feeling people are going to be avoiding this trial in the roulette, like Steps - unless things even out later.
Got so tired of wiping from not meeting the DPS checks....
