Not really a "horror story" but just more...annoyed? I don't know.
I was SCH and the other healer was WHM in World of Darkness. Second trash pull and the WHM tells me to get out of CS. I'm like, fine okay, if you want to DPS just let me know and I can just heal then, I don't care. I get bored really quick when just standing there so. Time for a nap.

During Cloud of Darkness we were having a bit of trouble so I get out of CS to heal since we're all dying some more. I take over on main tank healing so the WHM can focus on the party. I notice the WHM cast a single non-CS Aero II and then just. Stand there. Nothing.
After we wipe I went back to DPSing on the healing downtime because uuugh. (we passed that one).

Like, I'm not sure if the WHM knew I could mainly heal with my fairy and didn't really....need... to be out of CS all the time. Especially since I've run WOD over and over and over (give me the heal chest omfg) and I know when big damage is going to hit.

I did a noob dungeon as SCH for relic, was almost dismissed because the tank wanted me to get off cleric stance.
I did WoD, got lots of complaints about using Selene.
I did T10 and T11 hoping for farm shit for my caster, already having all 6 healer items from them. Of course I see those 6 items drop over and over again and still no buttwings.
Still no WHM Cane from T13.
Overall it's been a shitty week.

I know that one. One time a guy started emoting at me "looks at you in disgust" and so on because I was in CS...
Same situation in dungeons where you have only 1 X-Skill and I select CS over Protect... that awkward feeling when they're waiting for protect but "sry got CS instead of protect :P"

Drunk bards kiting T-7 pre nerf. Apparently this was an epidemic on my server.

Thank you to everybody who responded to my post and expressed their opinions on the matter. I told my friend everything you all had to say and you made her feel much better about the whole thing. I am also pleased to inform you all that I got my raid static tank to help us and we had a smooth and friendly run of keeper. My friend is now enjoying the rest of the story! Thanks again everybody for the wonderful replies!


Edit: and to address the whole "drunk" thing as it has spawned some conversation: I do not personally have anything against players who drink and play, as long as they do not allow it to change their behavior and play for the worse. I have played with a few drunk players who preformed and behaved just fine. I never meant it to come across as a "all drunk players play horrid" kind of statement. More over I wanted to state that being intoxicated did make this particular tank preform and behave worse twords my friend.

And I'm glad your friend is feeling better and enjoying that game again. It's a fun game, it's just there can be times when you run into a few asshats. Hopefully your friend never has to get treated so badly over a game again.

Oh comon you sound like an old grump "In my days...."

MMOs these days, especially FFXIV, are just more polished and targeting a broader market than the usual mmo-nerd;
to me, this is the reason you might see more players that do not embrace teamwork and are less willing sticking to a group til win.

I have my SMN at level 50 so I decided to get my insta SCH 50 recently, I have decent gear on my SCH ( my ilvl is 110 on it ). I am still kinda learning the proper rotations and all that fun stuff well me and some FC friends decide to run Ex Roulette one of our normal healers was on one of their DPS alts so I say I would try to heal it. We register for the roulette and I was like please not KotL... well thats what we got so my first real end game healing experience kept me on my toes. We had a few almost wipes that I was able to prevent ( though they gave me plenty of oh shit moments as I tried to keep up ) but after we finished I felt I came out a slightly better healer.
