Personally I don't see a problem I'd rather have this than inflation and you'd be surprised at how much gil enters the economy each day.

Would you risk the duty finder with your level 50 character if you knew you could be looking at several k in repair should it go wrong? Would you stick around a party that Looked like it could fail. This could become a source of contention socially and discourage assisting others.
