Because ignoring the AH you can not generate more gil than you spend. And while the AH is great for money now, without consumers it won't be great for long.
You keep saying that "you cannot generate more gil than you spend." I'll ask again. Where are you getting your information? Is it from your own personal experience? Because not everyone falls into this category. There are players who are adding gil to the economy. Maybe you should downgrade your gear until you figure out a solid way to support its repairs.
From me and virtually every level 50. All of my gil is coming in from the marketplace. I'm losing gil everywhere else. The fact that you don't generate gil, and in fact lose it while dungeoning/grinding/ect is extremely worrisome for the stability of the economy.You keep saying that "you cannot generate more gil than you spend." Its not a big deal because you will ultimately be forced to change to a more productive strategy once you run out of gil.
