A simple solution would be to add higher Gil rewards from Fates and Leves. Especially fates, the amount you get for high level fates is ridiculously low.

Along with, I think someone else mentioned, allowing level equivalent allagan drops from dungeons.

Hopefully it's something that's on their radar to address.

Some people really need to learn to check the vendor price and how much they are selling it for or they will lose money.
This is EXACTLY what I did with FFXI. For starters in the AH, I'd add up the ten gil amounts an item last sold for. After adding them, I'd find the average by dividing by 10 to get the amount I should sell the item for. Say if something sold for 1,000 gil four times, 1,500 another four times, and 1,900 two times. That's 1,000(4) + 1,500(4) + 1,900(2) = 13,800 / 10 = 1,380. I'd then round that up to roughly 1,400 to be on the safe side by making a new amount by finding the average. I did that all the time with things in the AH and in my Bazaar, and I sold out really quickly. I had a lot of people saying I was reasonable with things on my Bazaar and they asked me to collect more. Quite frankly, over the years with FFXI, prices went all out of whack due to RMT and I lost so much income from making my Bazaar prices based on the AH prices. Oh well.

Between quest rewards, dungeon runs, leves, FATEs and the occasional alt people level, we will be ok I think. Yes it may get hairy now and then but it is doable.
Even if the richest person on the server only has 10k gil, people will keep bringing in money through these activities.
Numbers may get smaller but overall it will be about the same exchange rate, no?

I've actually thought about doing this, currently I feel it would be one of the most productive ways of gaining gil.

What do ores, logs, muddy water, tree branches etc... sell for (I honestly don't know)? How many hours would you have to mine, botany, fish, or farm for this to be a viable option? If you have to spend so much time farming to vendor items, the game is now a game of farming with less time on bosses and dungeons... Which game sounds like more fun? A game you can play and play the content, or a game where you play little content and spend the rest of the time grinding so you can play a little content.

Personally, real life is more like the latter game described and I'd rather not play Final Fantasy: A Real-life Reborn... Just my .02 on your rebuttle.

    This is not sustainable.

Repairs from a dungeon cost between 2k-5k per run (for the entire group)
The AH takes 5% out of the economy

You will lose money doing dungeons
You will lose money going out to grind
You will break even or small gain doing FATEs
You will earn limited money from Leves.

The way the game is currently setup there is simply not enough ways to generate money into the economy. Unless this is fixed the game economy will collapse.

PS. The Auction House is not a valid way to "make money" It as a whole is a gil sink and will take money out of the economy while shifting money between players.
This is the very reason the Gill seller shouts are on the rise!
I agree with you they should adjust the earnings!

It's possible this will happen, but if it does, it will be the first game ever where it did. I'm not holding my breath.

Ugh... the level of ignorance in this thread is frightening. RavenNev stated it well.
Gil generated (from quests, npc's, vendoring, dungeons etc.) is not the same thing as gil earned from the market wards. The problem here is that the value's for gil generated seem to be far lower than the amount taken out by the system.

At level 50 repairs run 2-5k as people have stated. Teleport to a location outside your region? that's 4-500 gil. Teleporting in region while doing storyline/quests/farming/whatever? Those short hops add up too. Right now I'm easily spending 5-10k a day in dungeons and teleporting alone. Yeah I earn plenty of gil through the wards via botany and carpentry... but eventually my customers who are all spending 5-10k a day (not too mention the 5% the ah is deleting from the economy) or more will run out of money too.

Dungeons are a net loss on gil at level 50.
Leve's provide negligible amounts of gil and have daily limits on allowances.
Quests are not a renewable resource and have no place in this discussion.
We can only hope that SE is planning to address this.

I dont know personally I enjoy botany (but then I enjoy grinding in most games) and while it doesnt sell for much individually when you spend an hour and make enough gil off an NPC to sustain a day of dungeoning its really not that hard to see as a viable option

So, we should spend however long it takes to mine one stack of mythril ore(example) to vendor it for right at 800 gil. I'm gonna guess it will take roughly 15-20 minutes to farm that one stack to make 800 gil. Cut out the probably 200 gil repair(maybe more or less as that is lvl 35 ore) for that time and you are left with 600 gil for 20ish minutes of work.

Sounds like a horrible idea and more of a gil and time sink than any other idea.

Also, most people don't have time to gather for a couple hours a day just to afford a few dungeon run repairs. Most people have time to run one or two dungeons a day, in which your plan would require them to farm one day and then run dungeons the next.
