Now I realize you didn't take the time to read anything after the original post.

It's my fault and i'm sorry for engaging you.
Those "Legacy players" you seem to have an issue with tend to realize that most "legacy players" don't have "xxx millions." Most of them would be happy to have a million to their name. Why I'm bothering to engage you is anyone's guess, but keep writing off players who just happened to play 1.0 for a while.

    @DrPancakes
I did read the original post, twice now (to be sure), but I cannot agree. The money I "normally" make easily covers my repair costs. Besides, the huge moneysink is another one:
the AH taxes, which are directly proportionate to the average price levels in the server economy. Of course you will (as a new player) get piss-poor in no time if you pay those
outrageous prices crafters on legacy servers charge. That's, well... I am sorry to say that, but joining a legacy server was a pretty... ummm... "bold" move in the first place.
Eventually things will even out. But as far as my current observations tell me (I play on both legacy and new servers), that "eventually" still lies a few months down the road.
If you check my post history, I have been warning new players against joining legacy servers for months, so please don't blame me for that situation!

P.S.: In case you are playing on a "new" server (Moogle?), there's another, simple explanation. Seeing you are already LV 50, I guess you "rushed" to the top in order to
be one of the first there (and perhaps make lots of money by selling still-rare drops). Newsflash: Others are trying to do exactly the same, so whenever you buy something
@LV 50, they will charge outrageous prices.

Quite honestly, I don't think there is any problem with the gil influx in the game. (...) Honestly, this is a non-issue. There might be some tweaking to do to increase/decrease the influx of gil, but it is not to the point where the whole economy will crash.
Well yes, I agree. People are just pissed that they can't easily become "rich". Working as intended, isn't it?

More ways to make gil in the game = greater inflation

Quite honestly, I don't think there is any problem with the gil influx in the game.

New characters make tons of gil through quests, which in turn they use to buy stuff in the AH. That money (even though it is cut a little), then goes into the hands of the senior characters to be used again.

Considering that we can expect new characters to be created frequently, we can also expect a steady influx of gil through quests.
Heck, you can even create a new character yourself to stimulate your server!

Furthermore, plenty of items can be turned to NPCs for gil. With the big player base on any server, this is a non-negligible influx of gil.

Just selling to NPCs the lesser crappy items you get and other lesser crappy items from gathering can help any character sustain itself.

Honestly, this is a non-issue. There might be some tweaking to do to increase/decrease the influx of gil, but it is not to the point where the whole economy will crash.

LOL cash shop! SE's way to tell their player how they appreciate them... pull the carrot and empty your pockets $$$
And to those who support it: you are kicking yourselves. -- We just need to sit back and laugh at people with cash shop items.
    (Marvelous economics IQ test!)

wasn't Gil like super crazy in FF 11 because you could easily farm it off mobs, and items would end up costing like hundreds of millions of gil? Like a base really simple item would cost a million gil, just because of how out of whack the entire economy was.

Honestly, I'd rather have the economy be based on quality of items and crafting, and not farming it out through mobs - that's just retarded. If I want to get rich I should be able to do so by hard work and perseverance through crafting, not mindlessly grinding away at mobs for 100+ hours.

Not to mention that not allowing high drops through mobs, leves, and crap means that Gil Sellers have far less options in obtaining money, making their entire process bunk. Do you really want to have a bunch of bots and chinese farmers running around?

For those saying that you can't have high repair bills I had one yesterday of around 5k ( on one char and at one time) in partial lvl 50 gear from several wipes on HM garuda. The key problem is the fact that a lot of crafters are charging a lot of money at the moment due to how much money people have from questing as the game is quite new. I think because of how easy it is to craft/farm some of these low level items, square envisaged a system where certain items are mass produced just to be vendored so as to add currency that was previously non-existent. Do we really want Hyper-inflation? Do you really want to buy that new sword/axe/staff for 100 million, just because they change and make it a lot easier to make cash. Maybe what they should do is slightly increase the price of player crafted items when vendored this would solve a lot of these issues.

Since this thread was designed solely to get people to spill the beans on their "secret" gil making techniques, I'll join in.

Spend less than you make... /end thread.

Im just going to say... some players will spend and some will save. Not everybody should be rich or prices will go up leading to the need for more money.. inflation. every game has its unique economy. It will even out just wait.

If SE gave me 100 gil every time someone in this thread misunderstood the basic concepts of in-game economy, i alone could provide a big enough influx of new money to cause serious inflation.
