Change the Dyeing Synthesis Recipes

We do know that there are many color dying materials that can take up the majority of your inventory and the dev. team is planning to improve the process of color dyeing. These changes alongside the adjustments to recipes should make your inventories very happy!

I haven't read every idea presented in the thread, but I always felt it would be best to just dye the final product instead of having to have a billion different cloths and leathers... Really, to me, it just makes more sense. The most irritating thing to be was wanting to make something, and then having everything right, and then finding out I had to have a black leather instead of a plain one when all I was trying to make was a green cloth piece or something. Also, having to have colored leathers on a lot of black smithing items was also equally frustrating...

I never noticed any problems with dyed cloth except several armor pieces forcing dyed materials for a base colorless recipe. As far as making dyed cloth, I've had alot of trouble acquiring the moss or bugs needed to make dyes, or the completed recipes off markets even.

Personally I'd like a System like from WAR where you buy or find the dyes and dye your armor After its crafted not before.

This is what its like on pretty much all mmo's with dyes and armor... don't see why they just can't do this xD Even if they have to make it so only crafters can apply the dye after^^

Yep. I can see what they were trying to do with the dye recipes as they are now, but it just didn't work out in practice, and it causes more problems than it solves.

Yea, coloring gear after it is crafted is a much better way. I hope they consider that. The rest of the details are up to them, I hope they will be positively creative.

i agree should have a NPC that can color your gear for a small amount of gil, looking up the ward for a color you want is hard enough then the cost for it sometime is x4 the price for it without color -.-

I understand and appreciate the convenience factor (especially for those players that are *not* interested in crafting, and simply want to have gear of a certain color) and the inventory situation, maintaining dyes and colored cloth/leather, etc.

However, dumbing down the crafting process even more would diminish the game experience for those that enjoy crafting. Crafting currently is not as engaging and interesting as it could be. I sincerely hope that SE can find a balance between streamlining dyeing for some, while maintaining (or expanding) the creative role that crafters have.

It needn't be my suggestion of allowing re-dyeing to the basic colors that exist now, and allow crafters to create more varied and interesting color combinations, but something in that general vein would be nice.

I also think that the argument of "every other MMO does dyeing a certain way, so FFXIV should too" is a poor one. Don't people want something new? Or are people looking for yet another generic MMO rehash?

This isn't' dumbing down. Unnecessarily redundant recipes that explode your inventory and limit choices does not a make "smart" crafting system.

I also think that the argument of "every other MMO does dyeing a certain way, so FFXIV should too" is a poor one. Don't people want something new? Or are people looking for yet another generic MMO rehash?

There's a reason they all do it that way. It's the best way to do it. Just because something is different doesn't mean it's better.

Agree 100%. The current crafting system isn't a smart crafting system. But I don't believe that simply eliminating all dyes from the creation process will create a more interesting system. I'm requesting that SE not stop after allowing dyeing after-the-fact, but take another step and add something to enrich the crafting process.

Touché, but conversely just because everyone does it doesn't make it the best way to do it, either. I think fewer people would have problems with the cloth / leather dyeing system if SE hadn't used it as a club to restrict players from crafting items. As below ...

SE could have been a lot more original here. Rather than requiring particular dyed buffalo leather strap, they could have various supplemental effect based on the color chosen (e.g. +3 fire element for red leather). Instead they chose to beat us about the head and shoulders.

In the end, I'd prefer that SE move forward with a system that shows promise, rather than revert to a copy-paste of every other MMO on the planet.
