That sorta jives with Jinko's NPC dyeing idea. What I want to keep, however, is the role that crafters play in the process so that the dyes can only be crafted and the materials for the dyes can only be farmed. That will put in more items to trade to stimulate the economy.
Yea I duno if I was unclear before but I also want the dyes and crafting of them to stay in the game. That sorta jives with Jinko's NPC dyeing idea. What I want to keep, however, is the role that crafters play in the process so that the dyes can only be crafted and the materials for the dyes can only be farmed. That will put in more items to trade to stimulate the economy.
The player would have to offer the correct gear/dye and gil to have an item dyed by an NPC, which keeps alchemist in business because they are the ones producing the dyes.
Some people rely heavily on the farming of dye materials so I don't think it would be a good idea to allow NPC's to sell the mats.
Even if the cost of the NPC items are very high it will still have a negative effect on botanist.

The problem nothing sell is there is no people to sell to and the new NM drop items better then you can craft
Most people now have 60-80% NM drops from rank 1-50 people also use the weapons from the NM Rank 25 weapon from R1 to 50 becouse there stats are better then the crafted ones and they are to easy and free obtain
There is just a few crafted items people use.
Should be harder obtain the NM equip and more Balance to NM and Crafted items
If you can get the NM drops easy no one gonna buy the crafted items anymore atleast so long there stats are lower or even all just camp the NM.
One other problem is the low population on the server but it will hopefully get better in future.
But i really hope the will be more balance beetwen use of crafted and NM equip
I hope maybe half the NM drop crafting material half drop equip so there is some kind of balance in the game
Some items crafted some items dropped
I not wanna see the game with the new NM all people gonna use 95-100 dropped equip
I've been asked to post this from another topic. Taken from here:

So we've heard that recipe formats will be changed later. Take note also from the link that SE would need to allow quite some number of gear pieces to be allowed this. A question for SE would be could they possibly consider adding bosses that would drop unique dye coloring to be used to color a gear piece?
So we can have our blurple haubys or something.![]()
The add the mosses, bugs and whatnot to an NPC vendor. This will act as a gil sink to those who don't want to gather but will still allow gatherers to sell at lower prices.
I like the idea of just dying the cloths after they are made. I was talking to a co-worker about this yesterday and he agreed as well.
make the base armor, then dye it with said dye.
My opinion
dont remove dyed cloth, but how they are made
Instead of yarn -> colored cloth
how about
Yarn -> Undyed Cloth
Undyed Cloth + dye -> Dyed Cloth
and make it a 1/1 ratio!(also make synths to do more then 1 at a time)
so 2 cloth + 2 dye = 2 results and so on, you can choose how much to make that way
itl also turn the massive ammounts of dye we get into something more useful cuz lets face it, how many people use all the dye they can make right now? we make way more then is needed

When I first saw how dyed items were created in this game, I was very excited. Unfortunately, the dyeing system has turned out to be more of a club to restrict item creation than it is a tool to open up creatively colored gear.
Here is an exampling, using the case of velveteen robes.Velveteen robes are velveteen cloth, with an underpanel of cotton and buffalo leather shoulders. (am ignoring the brass ornament and straps on sleeves for simplicity)
There are four velveteen dyes, plus undyed velveteen.
There are four cotton dyes, plus undyed cotton cloth.
There are six buffalo leather dyes, plus undyed buffalo leather.
If a crafter could freely mix and match these colors, there would be an astounding 5 x 5 x 7 = 175 different color combinations for velveteen robes. Instead, we are straitjacketed into only five. This is an incredible disappointment to me.
I hope that one day SE will unlock all of these combinations and allow crafters to express some creativity.
In response to the OP topic regarding dyeing items after they are created, I think that allowing basic overall re-dyes after the fact would be great. More detailed colorings could be reserved for an unlocked system as above. If SE plans to maintain the item coloring as a restriction, then I vote that we just switch to dyeing after the fact instead.
Yes, it's not a very good outlet for creativity due to the way it is currently structured. It's more restrictive than free, and there isn't any good reason why it shouldn't be more free.
Yes. Whatever the system, I would like to err on the side of more freedom to do what we want since in this circumstance, it promotes variety and creativity.
Yeah, this is like Jinko's Dye NPC idea he posted earlier. You both have very good points.Dyes and Paints should just be taken out of the finished item crafting process completely. Every item should have a base color its crafted in. Then...
- Alchemists make dye pots that can be sold to players to change the color of gear
- NPC added into game that does the same thing but with a smaller selection of colors and is more expensive {Ding! OMG the game has a money sink!)
- When changing the color of your gear a UI pops up and shows you a preview of what the color is going to do to your gear. You need to confirm the change which consumes the dye.
- You can change your gear color again simply by applying a new dye.
- This system would also allow you to change haircolor, paint and tribal pattern colors.
