Funny people scream latency this and all. I live in Guatemala/Where the hell that is most will wonder/ and i dont get lag
also my main language is not English, I learned English playing FFXI also Japanese so hurray for international servers if you don't understand people learn to understand.

    On an additional personal experience.
I had the opportunity to go UK and my friends from the game there and I decided to get together I went and cooked some regional dishes and they took me to some tourist area I wouldn't have know if it wasn't because I went and met them online. So for exchanging different cultures you just have to make them happen.

Most japanese know very good ENG i join many only jp party by just saying hello in japanese and saying i {i understand a little} they go ok and use auto to talk to me and i follow them. Only some japanese wont let you join at all but beside that it's not because they hate NA it's they just don't understand you. If you use google and try to talk to them they would let you in for sure

Server placement does indeed have an impact on lag, regardless of size, and this -can- pose issues though they are not likely due to peak time differences. I think the best solution, and one I've promoted before, is to leave the current servers international but to try adding or moving a server to test regional server waters. I would like to see a NA server, and this preference isn't due to me wanting to segregate myself from the rest of the world population, but moreso to ensure the groups of people I play with.

Culturally it is much easier, and more benficial for myself to play with people in North America. I'm not overtly educated in other languages (I can speak basic french/spanish) so international servers can be a problem for me depending. I have sporadic work schedules, and don't always have the chance to play in the same timeframe. And personally, if I had the option to play either on a high pop international with lots of people not speaking my first language, or a low pop regional where everyone speaks my language, I would take the low pop as I would easily be able to get the most out of my playtime without having a language barrier.

And for those that refer to the auto-translate, although it does serve basic functions, you can't have -real- interaction with it. Your options are basically like automated responses and don't serve much purpose of actually developing friendships.

^^ The pace of the game is such that any latency is irrelevant. I live in Japan, but I've also played from the US. There is no difference between the delay of actions.

^ But no one will believe this. I played XI -and- XIV in Japan, Europe, US and AU. There was no noticeable latency problems beyond the usual in AU and that's just an in general thing.

Some people experience a great deal of input lag due to the demanding nature of the game, if they have a computer too weak to run the current setting response times will lag like hell and back. Try turning Ambient occlusion on and you will see what I mean.

But thats not the servers fault, but that wont stop people from complaining anyways. I personally like being able to play with people no matter what time I log in.

Agreed. The "lag" that people are experiencing has nothing to do with latency and everything to do with computer specs and/or details of their ISP/internet connection.

Why not blame the customers!? Does SquareEnix pay you or something?

Luckily for us, disagreeing with your views (and actually knowing how this kind of things work) doesn't equate to being "paid" by square enix.

There are plenty games that segregate players to play only with their neighborhood (and don't have any perceivably faster response). You're always free to go play one of those. The vast majority, quite obviously, disagrees with you. I seriously doubt they're all paid by SE.

Or they could fix their network code so we have no reason to blame latency.
