^^ The pace of the game is such that any latency is irrelevant. I live in Japan, but I've also played from the US. There is no difference between the delay of actions.

^ But no one will believe this. I played XI -and- XIV in Japan, Europe, US and AU. There was no noticeable latency problems beyond the usual in AU and that's just an in general thing.
Some people experience a great deal of input lag due to the demanding nature of the game, if they have a computer too weak to run the current setting response times will lag like hell and back. Try turning Ambient occlusion on and you will see what I mean.
But thats not the servers fault, but that wont stop people from complaining anyways. I personally like being able to play with people no matter what time I log in.
Agreed. The "lag" that people are experiencing has nothing to do with latency and everything to do with computer specs and/or details of their ISP/internet connection.
Network latency is a physical thing, unless we already have some flavor of FTL communications, crossing the ocean will add 80-100 milliseconds to communications. So we will have an average ping of around 200ms which isn't bad at all for the current battle system.

i like the multi-language servers as well. I would love to have those in other games as well. People tend to be more openminded on these server, or if they are not, they leave or get more open minded. Meeting people from other countries is nice, i like it very much. I also have an ls i usually hang out with most of them 9 hrs time difference. Most games dont even offer to change from EU to NA servers so i wouldnt be able to play with them like i used to in ffxi.
and the latency i think really isnt the problem, the game coding, like many threads already stated isnt optimized for mmo/online gaming at all. Until that isnt fixed well... nothing will change that i guess.
From Canada I average 160~ms Ping to Japanese servers It's obvious this massive ping is causing Unwaranted latency! Hell it's only 40ms slower than my connection to America.
So yeah...It's not the servers fault you have a crappy connection, and or crappy computer with the setting cranked too high.
Luckily for us, disagreeing with your views (and actually knowing how this kind of things work) doesn't equate to being "paid" by square enix.
There are plenty games that segregate players to play only with their neighborhood (and don't have any perceivably faster response). You're always free to go play one of those. The vast majority, quite obviously, disagrees with you. I seriously doubt they're all paid by SE.
