Why no regional servers?

BTW there is a thread over on the Japanese forum about this very same subject and the majority of them want regional servers, because they believe westerners to be rude and greedy. (oddly I think the same thing, so they aren't wrong)

I'm following that thread, and the it is a vocal minority that really wants regional servers. Most people are in favor of playing with people from other countries despite the language barriers and occasional problems.
