S-E doesn't understand how login queues work.

Ever notice how sometimes when you go to log in, it doesn't give you a 1017 immediately? Maybe you get the "You're in the queue" message, or maybe it just goes to the loading screen and you're finally on your way back to Gridania (or wherever). And then it gives you a 1017.

Here's a synopsis of loading process:
  1. Character selection - confirm you want to log in
  2. Black screen - game checks for room on world or in queue
  3. Black screen with queue - optional, you might skip straight to the next step
  4. Loading screen - image based on region you logged out in, it is now actually loading your character
  5. In game.
Once you're past step #2, you shouldn't have any worries. You should be able to get into the game once it finishes queueing and loading.

Should.

Problem is, you get into the queue and you get 1017. You get to the loading screen and the game is actually loading your character, and you get 1017. I wouldn't be surprised if I actually got into the game and then got a 1017.

It's a mess.

The queue should be expanded beyond 99 players. You should go straight from character select to the queue, no matter how many hundreds of players are ahead of you. But even if it stays as small as it is, you should never be kicked out of the queue or out of loading.

I just wish S-E knew what they were doing.
