I don't think Ilitsa gets it yet. The people who develop mobile apps typically do not have the expertise or knowledge to work on the game or servers. It would be like surrel said and asking the server to cook your food. The server does not cook, so there's no point taking that server off the floor any more than there would be a point to taking that mobile developer off the app. It's highly likely that app developer is not qualified to do anything other than develop that app. Does that make sense yet? Having that app developer work on the servers would be like having a chemical engineer design a bridge rather than just finding a qualified structural engineer. They may both be engineers, and that chemical engineer may be a damn good chemical engineer, but I'm not driving on that bridge...

In my usual style of sticking my ore in; while the devs on servers are nto devs on the app... the budget and management are responsible for everything so the current issues do indeed have an impact. sad to say as I too want the app, but for andriod

This however is no reason not to update, most of the additional features of the latest versions will not be needed for Libra Eorzea (as far as I can tell.) The majority of people are currently on Gingerbread, with Jelly Bean in a close second and then Ice Cream Sandwich, these three platforms as of June 2013 make up 96% of the Android market. For this reason make it compatible with these three platforms and there will be no problems, and unless there is some feature I don't know of in the app there is no need for the additional features of ICS and JB.

Will this app be on the PS Vita? With both online FFs being on Playstation systems and the Vita being able to use PS Mobile software, it could be possible. I don't have a smart phone so it would be great if it did come to the Vita.

A companion app for the PS Vita is planned, including a database and the features of the new Lodestone, but Remote Play is the priority.

and about that remote play for PS4:

Remote Play with the PS Vita will be fully supported. Yoshida-san makes the example of gathering, fishing, crafting or questing solo while relaxing on the couch on the PS Vita, and then, when the time for party play starts, one can switch to the PS4 to enjoy the challenging dungeon content on the big screen.
