    Ragdoll physics {Can I have it?}

    (I don't know what dev tag this would fall under so i'm gonna omit that)

    I think ragdoll physics in FFXIV would be a good idea, for a number of reasons which I will list here:

    * It'd add a neat game mechanic to battles. For example, the headbutt ability aldgoats have would send you flying and landing in a heap!

    * It'd add some more realism to the game

    * and finally, it'd make agility more useful. As in, more points to your agility/dexterity would lower your chances of getting knocked over.

    There, 3 reasons why I think ragdoll physics would be a good idea. Feel free to add your own as the thread progresses.

    I'd say that I don't know what ragdoll physics are.

    It would definitely add a nice touch to the game And open up possibilities as far as realism and integration

    I'd like to see this, but I'm sure it'll be really low priority.

    Meh i say no, because ragdoll physics can get VERY glitchy. Play Oblivion to se the worst of it. It isn't all that easy to do even in fps games the ragdoll effects glitch out.

    they can be funny though, Like shooting a guy who then flops around, or like in oblivion where a deer you kill has its tail stretch for miles. But it also makes the game look cheap. I never seen a game with good ragdoll effects.

    Would it be cool, sure but only if done well which I never seen it.

    Ragdoll physics makes games more annoying than fun. Go play that last Turok game i think, every time a raptor hit you, you were falling on the ground always wasting time to get up. Cool at first but freakin annoying after 5 min. Realism and games don't mix up very well.

    Euphoria Physics are the king.

    The problem is implementing them now in the engine would be to complex and unpredictable. It really is something you have to do from the beginning.

    I have to thank Square-Enix for the amazing job they have done recreating Final Fantasy XIV from Scratch. Especially the inclusion of Missing Genders which we petitioned for in good faith. This was proof to us players that the Developers are truly Sympathetic to our requests and that being honest and vocal can pay off with the amazing characters we have who are Female Roegadyn, Male Miqote, and Female Highlanders. Thank You SE, Thank You Community Team, Thank You Yoshi-P.

    Previous posters summed up my thoughts about the glitchyness of most rag doll physics. I believe if SE gets around to this they'll go with a middle ground. Pre-baked animations. (Not a bad thing at all)
