The pressure to skip cut-scenes!

I don't mind people watching the cutscenes, it's a story dungeon after all, but it gets frustrating when one of them seems to me writing an essay of the cutscene and takes thrice the time as the rest of the members that watched it or go afk.

Seeing all this talk about who is selfish, those who insist on watching the CS or those who insist others should skip it. It made me think how selfish I was yesterday.

Leveling ARC up through dungeon runs. Queued for Sastasha and then went back to gathering. DF pops and I go in. The run starts off slow because you could tell the GRD tank was brand new. body pulling not using Flash etc. I'm thinking "damn it this run is going to take forever, I've got to speed things up".

So I asked the tank if he had Shield Lob. He said yes. I then explained that it is a great ability to pull with and it builds enmity. I then asked if he would like some tips. He said sure. So I told him to pull with lob and then use a couple of flashes to get enmity for the group. Also that Fast blade builds enmity.
I also decided to mark the kill order for the mobs. The run went a lot faster and I was able to earn my xp and get a couple of armor upgrades in the run.

Man my selfishness really paid off.

Just go to the inn and watch them....nothing is more annoying then 7 people twiddling their thumbs for 2-3 mins so some RPer can watch every second of every scene when he can easily do that after in the inn on his own time.

sure there is. dealing with 7 arrogant litt;le twits who cant be bothered to wait for your cutscenes to finish because omg it might slightly impact their loot per hour.

Only it isn't.

One person is trying to experience and enjoy the content/story as SE designed and intended it to be.
Another person is trying to tell them they can't and to skip it.

There's absolutely no parity there.

Its not 'another person' its 7 people waiting for 1.

I very much look forward to hitting the level 50 dungeons and sitting through every one of my cut scenes in their entirety. I'm playing a SCH right now so go ahead... make my day. Complain at me. See how far that gets you when the damage starts flying.

I'm playing for story. I replay dungeons over and over, for gear and because I know I can heal pretty darn well so far and it helps people get dungeons done... there are a LOT of DD and not a ton of Tanks and Healers in comparison. I don't consider myself even REMOTELY selfish, rather I go out of my way to help other players whenever possible. That said, I will not let it slide if people complain about skipping cut scenes, esp right at the launch of a game. Grow up, people. Let people enjoy the game.

I always ask people to skip. I don't yell at them or forced them, I ask. If they want to sit there and watch them all, there's nothing I can do about it and I just suck it up. However, that does not mean it is not rude to hold up 7 other people for what you want to do. It does go both ways, but if either side is rude about it, they are in the wrong.

You can view them in the inn. Its just not under story, its under Duty.

I think they could:

1. Add an option in the duty finder to be grouped up with people who are doing it the first time. That way, if you want to watch the CS, then you can check that option and be grouped with like-minded people. Other people who aren't doing it the first time can pick to be paired with people who have also done the dungeon before or with first-timers if they don't mind waiting.

2. Pause the dungeon timer until everyone has finished watching the CS and restrict movement like they do at the beginning of the dungeon. That way, no one's penalized for wanting to experience the story, and no one can run off ahead of the team and end up getting the team wiped.

"7 people waiting for 1" happens once for that character, any other time they run the dungeon they'll get the brief intro and boss appearance and that is it. You can shuffle off out of the instance if it bothers you that much. As time goes on less and less people will be in the dungeon for the story. I inconvenience 3 or 7 people... once per dungeon. That's assuming every one of them isn't doing it for the first time.

I had a run of Toto-Rak where the tank didn't pay attention and started the boss fight whilst the DD were both watching the cut scene (I had the short scene and thus got sucked into the room). We duo'd it, but I felt bad for the entirety of it, they had no part in the fight. If we had been locked like at the entrance we'd have had no problem. I'd like to see that more.

The cut scene haters should avoid Brayflox after maintenance, because that's where I'm headed next
