Think of it this way, YOU are wasting people's time by watching something you can watch ANYTIME in an Inn. So, it's in fact you who is being rude in this situation, so next time just skip the damn thing and watch it on your time, not ours.

No, it's not that simple. If they had joined you with the sole purpose of rushing a bunch of instances, then sure, they should skip the cutscenes.

However, if it's their first time in the instance and they want to see the story and cutscenes in context, then they should be allowed to do so.

This is partially a problem with duty finder, as it matches players who are new to an instance with players who are rushing them.

Having said that, I'd still like to believe that most people would have enough patience or courtesy to allow the new player to watch those cutscenes.

I had one guy yesterday run ahead in Tok( whatever it was called, something about teeth, lol) by himself to battle the boss while the rest of the team was still in the cut-scene. I did not mind however that the barrier was closing without me in it. I mean, after all, I was the healer. I was not going to skip just to accommodate someone in a rush. He didn't last very long from what I could tell. The barrier reopened a few seconds later while I was still watching the scene unfold:P

Moral to the story? Be courteous to your team. If someone is running through the dungeon for the first time, wait patiently for them to finish. Its not going to kill you to wait for a few minutes. Well in the case of the guy on my team, his impatience did.

    It goes both ways.
If you are joining a random group (IE DF party), then you should expect it to be a 'first time, full run'. That means, there will be people who don't know the mechanics, etc, and who are interested in watching CS's. If you wish to 'farm' than either form a set static group on your server to do said farming with (we have LS/FC's for a reason), or be patient with those that are doing their 'first run.

Also, keep in mind...people watching CS's can't see the Chat logs as they aren't prioritized...so you can scream at them to skip to your hearts content, they can't see it and you just piss yourself off thinking they are ignoring you.

The ONLY time, it is okay to tell new folk to skip a CS, is if you are actually going to timeout otherwise...that is it. And then, warn them before the CS.

I can't wait for this to happen to me when I'm tanking. The amount of pleasure I'll get from making little babies cry will be through the roof when I happen to forget how to tank. Wait. You said skip cutscene? I thought you said AFK and make a sandwich.

The game tells everyone when it's someones first time there. If they still want to whine about cutscenes then I only have one thing to say to them.

    "Deal with it."

I agree with the OP. This is like a huge elephant in the room. The dev team should respond with plans to stop the player frustration around this. They can program the game to know if someone hasn't ever seen the CS, and stop timers, restrict movement, etc., until the CS is over with. Better yet, display a countdown timer next to the CS icon above the players' heads to show the ETA til the end of the CS, and also alert other group members so they can take a quick 2 or 3 minute break.

I hope the dev team eases the stress this causes the players, both for those who wish to skip and those who would rather not.

This same thing happened to me in Toto-Rak. Me and the healer were in the CS, while the MRD and ACN went inside. They both wiped. Yeah, you can blame it on player courtesy or, when it comes down to it, human behavior, or the dev team can just step in and put boundaries in place.

You can go on being an asshole too, no one's going to stop you.
