I always thought it was a bad idea to combine story and group content in any game, specially here in the west. Personally I think if a group has someone making a first run, that the cutscenes should be unskipable.

Nice to know this is what I have to look forward to at 50. Getting yelled at for watching cutscenes. And just a week after release no less. Sigh.
Sorry, but watching them at the inn just isn't the same.

Way to ruin game immersion, next time ill be sure to not even click threw cutscenes when im asked to and leave my char sitting there in the duty.
I expierienced this crap the first time today beating the main quest line also. Funny it was also the douchebags that kept laying there dead while the new commers were on point. What are they gonna do about it other then whine like this loser^

No pressure. No one tells me how to enjoy the game. If you want to watch them when they come up, do it. They will one day get over it.

The way dungeons and main story was merged was a bad move. Main story should have brought you to the dungeon and given you a solo instance for the story. Doing the story mode solo would unlock the Group Dungeon version which would be the same story just more mobs and tougher. This way you wouldn't have to sit in duty finder for hours if your not a healer/tank when all you want to do is continue with your story. Also if it was done this way you could have a toggle in the game settings to Auto Skip Cutscenes You Have Already Viewed.

I'm sure that, to some people, having to follow the main story is something irritating that you have to rush through in the race to bag achievements and the best gear. They've probably been skipping cutscenes and conversations with questgivers throughout (I've certainly read comments that the main quest line is too long and questgivers talk too much) - they're here to "win" a a game, insomuch as you can "win" at an MMORPG, by getting to be the best they can be as fast as possible. Of course, there's nothing wrong with that style of play, and plenty of people enjoy MMORPGs for that.
But for me and plenty of others, the storyline is something that we've invested a fair number of hours in following, and have read and listened to everything throughout. I really like that FFXIV puts an effort into making your character the centre of an epic story in a well-realised world, something which I haven't personally experienced before in an MMO. Running through these story dungeons for the first time isn't so much about playing a game as it is experiencing a story in the world that SE have created. So I fully intend to watch the cutscenes when I get to level 50. I don't want to fast-forward to the end and then fill in what I missed later... that would be such a disappointing climax to the story (one which I've heard has a pretty good ending, too). Yes, I might then afterwards want to repeat them for rewards I didn't get the first time, and then I'll be happy to let others watch the cutscenes themselves if it's their first time. And I do try to read fast to keep the wait time down for anyone who isn't watching.
I agree it would be nice if the DF supported both styles of play, though, by allowing you to choose whether you want to run with first-timers or not.

I wouldn't mind if people watched the cut scenes if the timers stopped. Some people are slow readers
( ' ')/\(' ' )
One would think that these people wanting to speed through these as fast as possible would get all the people they need up front, thus eliminating the variable of getting someone from DF who would watch the cutscene.
It's not your fault they're too fail to get the people they need from their FC. Watch the cutscene.
