Months til server transfers?!?!?!

MY husband said he was watching an interview on massively and Yoshi-P said it would be months until server transfers!!! I think the team should really be letting us know what is going on with this. I have been playing my toon under the assumption that in 2-3 weeks the servers worked out I would be able to transfer (which should be free since most servers were locked) and I would be able to play with my friends.
When you unclog these servers and work out these problems are we going to get transfers or what? Should I bother to continue to play or wait for my friends server to unlock. 2 weeks maybe 3 is ok....I can deal but months...why bother playing an mmo where I've been locked out of playing with my friends?!?!

After tonight's emergency maintenance hopefully all issues are resolved, for what I know and every person has ever told me transfer should be open mid September cause I'm in same boat, my characters served switched on me once I logged in and I was lvl 10 before I noticed. It is probably going to be pay to transfer which is wrong cause it should be free for atleast a week cause its not out fault there servers were prepared. But as of right now, mid sept.

Mog Station still says server transfers will be available mid-september. The only thing I see changing that is if tonight's maintenance does absolutely nothing.

What about the 6 months close on Legacy servers? I want to hear more info about that and whether or not it was a rumor as I have friends on another Legacy that want to come to my Legacy.

Unless it's changed...the 6 months is for transferring from a legacy server to a non legacy server.

Here's the interview. Next to the choco picture is them saying Yoshi-P says transfers will start in 2-3 months.
The original announcement was legacy could transfer in 6 months to any server...of course it will have to have room.

Of what I've heard, transfers will be a paid service, and you can transfer up to eight characters. It's a one-time thing, so if you transfer less you have to pay again for another transfer in the future. FFXI charges twenty-five dollars for this service. Honestly, I think that's overpriced if they're thinking of charging the same. And I agree with opening up free transfers for a period of time because there's going to be a tremendous amount of ensuing consumer frustration with the company if they don't. People are in all the wrong places because of the restrictions.

I read that interview and honestly, I think it's either a misunderstanding or typo, server transfers are expected to hit in 2-3 weeks, not 2-3 months, this has been confirmed in more than one place over the past 2 week.

also, if they offered a dual transfer system, I think it would be best...by that I mean want to transfer 1 character? that'll be $10, want to transfer ALL your characters? that's $25+. Honestly, $25 for one character is outrageous and why I have tons of characters across servers in WoW, I'd just start over instead of continue if I wanted to go to a different server, but I'd pay $10 no problem.
