How do you think the negative reviews due to server issues will affect sales?

I love this game. I have absolutely no problem waiting to log in, if need be. Of course, I'd prefer to be able to play at any time, but I understand that the patience will pay off and the game is without a doubt worth it.

However, looking around Amazon, MetaCritic, and a bunch of retail sites...it seems that the impatient are quite vocal (as usual). I want nothing more than for this game to succeed, but I'm worried that the negative reviews will dissuade people from purchasing it in the future.

Do you think these are just the words of disgruntled players who will stick with it, even though they are giving it poor reviews? Or do you think the server issues have actually caused people to quit and not give the game a decent try?

To add: If you are one of the people giving negative reviews simply based on the server issues, SE is giving a free week to make up for it. They have created an astounding game, and you're doing nothing beneficial for anyone involved in the long run.

It won't affect them much / at all. First, it's mostly user reviews that complain about that. More professional reviews analyze the game content more than things like login issues.

Second, there are more than enough good ratings and reviews out there offsetting the bad ones.

SE is handling this more or less as anybody else would and should.

I think any review that factors in the server issues as part of the actual review 100% invalid. Regardless of how rocky a game launch is, the review should be about the game, not the issues it had x weeks into launch.

As for if it will affect sales? Probably. I mean, I'm sure it already has, but I really don't care. I dunno how many people need to play this game for SE to make a profit, but I think, at least hope they get there eventually.

It will have a negative impact until the server problems are resolved, then the reviews will look like crazy people yelling at shadows and be "not helpful"'ed into oblivion.

Given that they have more people wanting to play the game than they expected, I think SE will be doing just fine financially with this game. The issues may effect sales, but then again, name one MMO that didn't have launch issues.

Rift. Even though the game sucked the launch was great from what I've read.

Another clueless response from a fanboy... These server are caped to 5K and they are supposed to be holding 15K. Do the math and figure out how many people they have playing on these servers. This is a niche game and the worst thing they can do is add servers only to have them become ghost towns once the 30 day people decide not to subscribe.

So NO, they dont have that many people playing.. Servers are capped to 5K people which is pathetic since WoWs servers hold 30K people.

If this maintenance works as intended then within a few days it won't make a jot of difference.

Apart from the 5k server cap, which was mentioned officially, where are you getting these other numbers from?
