    Player movement

Coming from other MMO's I am used to move while executing the skills. I see a lot of players just stand still or move just a little (maybe just noobs to mmo's?).
Is there any benefit to move constantly or to just avoid the random attacks?

By the way, awesome game, awesome graphic!!

    Yes not dying lmao.
Err, it's not really noobs...it's just we don't have no real reason to move unless there's an AoE coming.
Games not that difficult to figure out so far.

Casters are pretty much rooted while casting due to the mechanic where movement interrupts our casts. So there's that.

    This.
In between casting spells, if I see I'm caught inside an attack zone (yay orange circle warning), I'll try to step outside it before casting the next spell. THM is all I've played thus far.

Only reason for a tank to move is to either pull the aggro somewhere else, get out of the way of some aoe attack, or run away. There is no tactical advantage to moving what so ever, and the arguable one you do get is so minor that it's insignificant.

thanks for the info so far, didn't know that some classes/spells root the character. I went straight to the archer which I usually play in every mmo. Sry, didn't want to call anyone a noob, guess I am one myself in FF

Also some 1.0 players (like me) might be suffering some trauma as well given you LITERALLY were rooted when executing any skill in the previous version, so it's a bit instinctive to move the least possible.

Also spells don't precisely force you to not move, you can move, but it cancels casting

The only reason moving and attacking are useful is to kite one mob away from another. And just better positioning in boss battles while not hurting DPS. I used to PVP in World of Warcraft A LOT, and i've grown so used to moving around when attacking as a melee dps that I still do it in FFXIV, but it's not really needed at where I am in the game (level 27).

It'll become a much more valuable skill in PVP, even with a slower GCD.

A lot of us were trained in FFXI and v1 to move only when it's necessary. In PvE, which is all we had, you don't evade normal attacks by bouncing around chaotically, and many skills require you to be stationary. You move when you need to: to dodge AOE, exceed spell range to interrupt (when the cast is long enough to do that), and kite.

The only time I've taken issue with it (other than how ridiculous it looks to see someone do it) was when our Archer kept frantically moving in and out of spell range, and occasions where he'd break my line of sight to him by going behind me or some terrain obstacle. IT made it very difficult to cure him when he needed it.
