    Step It Up A Notch

I know it is being said across all boards but basically...

SE, you have got to pick up the update/patch/fixing the game process.

Far be it from me to say you guys aren't trying as hard as you can, but for your own sake, at least, if more serious changes don't come faster, I fear more and more people are gonna leave the game out of frustration or just boredom.

It just seems that SE is just kinda lazily moving along with updates and changes. They don't seem to think the situation of the future of their game is dire.

I just hope that if they aren't working at full capacity, that they get on the ball and start pumping out some more serious content updates and patches.

Honestly Square should do exactly what they are doing.

If they fix the game perfectly and it take another 8-10 months so be it. If the game population online across all servers drops to 300 people so be it.

If they rush garbage, buggy, or copy/pasted content from another mmo the game is done forever, the best thing they can do is develop at the speed it takes to make something good.

IF someone cannot wait, the best thing they can do is quit, or take a break. But telling square to rush content is pure stupid. That is 100% of the problem with FFXIV now.

People don't get into game development to be lazy, they do it because you love it and have a passion for what they're doing. We work upwards of 70 hour work weeks and generally aren't phased by it. I can't really speak for Japanese game dev practices, but if they're anything like western studios then they are doing everything in their power to get the systems reworked as fast as they possibly can. If there is one industry out there that is, well, industrious, it's game developers.

Yoshida went on record explaining how the internal development teams work, and they are tackling about a dozen issues simultaneously. We're not talking content here, we're talking getting the game up-to-speed to what it should have been on its (failed) launch. They're rebuilding the game with code that mostly wasn't theirs to start with and MMOs are a tangled messy nightmare web to work through. You change one thing and it can easily affect a dozen other seemingly unrelated systems.

Also, look at S-E's track record with XI. Once they got their systems under control (XI went through the same sort of issues early on before the US/EU release), they started cranking out content like nobody's business. XI has more fun, interesting, RELEVANT content now than most other MMORPGs on the market today. We're not seeing big content updates because they aren't able to focus on it right now - they need to make the game work before they can put things in it, and overhauling big systems is a much more daunting task than just implementing new armor and new zones in an already-functioning system.

Your complaints are definitely valid and it's a shame on both of our ends that we have to go through this limp-along phase in the game's progression, but they're still picking up the pieces of a flopped launch. It's going to feel like this for the next while, so get comfy until the reworked systems get up and running. People are going to come and go with the game -- myself included -- while they continue to reboot the game. Take a break and check back in a few months if this is really bothering you enough to make a public note about it

Did you read the article where Yoshi-P said people were expecting a next gen mmo and they didn't get that....there it is. Yoshi-P was handed a game that wasn't next gen and now he has to make it next gen. That takes time. A crappy f2p like Vindictus has an environment where you can pick up almost anything and hurl it at the mob, its interactive, not saying I want this in FFXIV, but these are next gen concepts. Going through your menu to open a door (you oldies remember this), that's not next gen. So the fact that this game was developmentally behind the curve except with graphics is what's setting back this game now, if the game was gonna be fixed fast, it would of been fixed when it was released in September, now we must wait or quit, period.

I don't want haste for the sake of haste. I was simply stating that it seems they aren't giving it their all. I was just saying that "if" they aren't operating at full capacity, that they should step it up. And if they are doing EVERY possible thing they can, then I will gladly and respectfully wait.

The issue here being that I am playing the game and enjoying it, but unfortunately, many of the friends I wish to play with just aren't sold on the game yet. My post is a plea, not a complaint.

The problem here is that we don't know how fast they are fixing the game. We only get access to monthly updates on what the monthly patch team is doing, which is separate from the team working on the overhauls. As such at least half of the dev team's efforts have yet to be seen in-game, even if the time of showdown is coming close.

So, while I won't say that this thread isn't needed, I think it is slightly premature to criticize them for their speed when we don't know what speed they are moving at in the first place.

For all we know the much anticipated battle system overhaul is done, but now they are fine tuning it and bug testing things. Don't forget with everything new, it must be tested. If they release 90 new things with 150 things wrong with it such as bug etc then it will be heard all over the place and there goes the rep they are trying to build up. But we don't know that. All we know is that the new team from what I've seen has busted there ass and completely done a 180 with the game from the time it came out.

Yeah if you are level 50, guess what there isn't a whole lot for us to do. Furthermore if you're a newcomer, or someone wanting to try it out, then guess what... There is a TON of shit for you to do now and that needed to be their focus A. to bring new people in AND MOST IMPORTANTLY B. Get ready for the ps3 release as that will re-do there poor ass rating as it is now and actually give them a shot at re-building this game. With a piss poor ps3 release guess what, no more FFXIV the way I see it.

Right now I have quite a few friends who first started that were completely against the game. Now seeing all the updates and seeing that there is things to do, they are starting to come back. That is what SE's focus needs to be and it is. We will get ours eventually, unfortunately the people that stuck around need to deal with that and suck it up. Myself included.
