PC & PS3 Access

I searched and can't find a clear answer on this.

I bought the PC version of the game. But my son is considering playing.

If I buy him the PS3 version, can I use that version as well with my account created by registering the PC version. And vice versa? Can he play on a PC version with his account created for PS3?

One would think you could as long as I have an active and current account, but as I'm new to FF, figured I'd better ask.

You'd have to buy the PC ver for him as well.

The two versions are linked so unless he wants to play on the pc version why you are not you both can play together as long as your on separate accounts

Everything said above is correct, but to add a bit:

If you have a PC version now and you buy a PS3 version when you stall it you will have two options.

1. add it to your existing account. this will mean that your service account can play both the PC and PS3 versions you have purchased. This means you can play all your characters accross both platforms, but not at the same time. However you will get the free 30 days from the PS3 version added to your existing PC 30 days as well so as long as you don't want to play together at the same time this is a good option.

2. create a second server account for the PS3 version. This is a great option if you want to play together but you can not access your PC characters on the PS3 or vice versa. The down side to this is after the 30 days you will need to pay 2 separate subscriptions to keep playing with your son.

you would think, but they took a different approach with this compared to FFXI. You have to buy and register both versions to be able to play on both. Also, you cannot play on both at the same time, even with different characters as long as they are on the same account.
