    Summons

I was just wondering, depending on how summons get implemented, maybe this is a good idea:

After going through some process of collecting summonable creatures ( Quest/Battle/Ranking up a Summoner Class), the character gains an Action to summon each individual creature.

Whether or not you can equip multiple Summons, or whether other classes can summon doesn't really matter to me, but it would be fun to summon on other classes.

After hitting the action for say, Titan, the character plays a fancy summoning animation and is locked in place or phased out. Then the player takes control of his summon and has available a slew of new abilities specific to their summon.

I like this idea. With the exception of FIX,FX,FXI summons were able to be used by all characters in the party. I think your idea would make the game seem more final fantasy. I would think that you should only be able to set one summon at a time though. I wish there was some information on summons.

Summoner has always been my favorite class in every Final Fantasy I've played, so I can't wait until I see FFXIV's implementation of it.

I think in FFXI (correct me if I'm wrong, since I only played it briefly), they constantly ticked down your MP while a summon was active. I seem to remember reading that doing that made it so that actually keeping out a summon was undesirable, since it wasn't as easy to gain back MP. I think that system might work better with FFXIV, due to their constant MP regen, but I kind of wish they'd go the route of Dragon Age and just make it so that a portion of your MP is inactive while the summon is out. Let's say, 25% of your MP is 'held' while you have a summon active.

As for summon skills, I think the summoned creature should have a list of it's own skills that it could use, utilizing it's own MP, but also have skills that require an expenditure of the summoner's MP in order to work. I think cool little combination magic effects would be awesome.

Not sure how directly controlling the summon would work, but if you wanted it to be a once every so often big cast like it is in a lot of Final Fantasies, you could make it so that when you summon a creature, you take control of it, but lose control of yourself, like gaining a permanent sleep debuff while the summon is active. Would also make it so that aggro would constantly build on your sleeping form, so you had to work to keep up aggro with the summon or risk your sleeping form getting demolished. Think it would be kind of interesting.

Anyway, I doubt that summoning would be a skill accessible to other classes, but, I'm not sure what the future will bring, so I could be wrong.

Seeing the current game state and the complete non-creative way its directed, i'd expect summons to, if ever implemented (since this time they have an important position at storyline, like bahamut at FFXI's CoP, which caused it to never being added as summon), to be similar to FFXI summon system.

I'd love to see itas a WS though, being a casting WS to summon (similar to Rage of Halone) and they causing TP bleeding effect...if you run out of TP they vanish...would be much more dynamic that the "pokemon trainer" way SMN was at FFXI, staying behind and only giving commands to avatars.

I liked how 13's summoning was with Odin etc. If we could get something like that, that would be beast. Do some quests to get the summoning spell. Very nice idea.

Indeed! Would be awesome we being "fated" to meet a certain primal depending of our guardian and then, after beating it, we being able to summon it ^^ With 2 guardians of each element we could have most of the big guys covered ^^

I'd rather see a combination of Summoner and Beastmaster- While the player can create a synthetic creature modified to their own needs, they are able to buff it with "aspects" or "blessings" of Eidolon/Guardian Force style characters, rather than summon the beasts outright. Since beastmen worship these characters in Eorzea, perhaps outright summoning would not be as healthy for the game as enchantment spells casted by a player akin to the Beastmaster.

People might bash eidolons because they ARE transformers...but Hell...i would put flame decal on my Ifrit if he could become a truck! lol

Anyways...i'm in the extreme minority that liked FFXIII! Maybe because i always loved summoners, avatars and transformers =P

But i suggested them already what i told at my post above some time ago. About summoner this time being a pole fighter and using constant TP gain to hold avatars out, spells to summon them out and a mixed version (like elemental WS...that uses both TP and MP) for avatar commands. I'd cream my pants if i ever see a summoner this active ^^

And about customizable mechanic avatars, i also suggested similar stuff for garlean class (supposedly unlockable at Garlemald only), which includes the engineer (DoH) which craft and repair complex machinery, gear-based stuff (also opening a door for automatons/mamets/puppetmasters), guns, cannons, gunblades (soldiers, musketeers, cannoneers) and a class that is named xxxx (i forgot ; ; there's months since i suggested this ; ; if i remember i'll edit here) that would use a warper as weapon that alows him to summon a battlesuit. Imagine that, for this class, nothing the character wear will reflect on him...he would just have a full body suit (evangelion-like) that is related to warper model...all the rest would be the armor the battlesuit would be wearing. Imagine a class with high attack, high defense, capacle of using melee and ranged attacks (for ranged i suggested 99 ammo since he can also melee) but, to balance this aall, he would have at pouch slot a stack of 999 energy cell that would be spent after every action...no energy cells = byebye suit gogo stone throw. For those that don't like giant robots...he won't be giant...just as big as a goobbue =P

If you want broken stuff to be fixed, at least wait them finishing adding them lol! Its like a convenience dude telling the person that just entered the shop with a baseball bat to clean up what he already broke!

Give dev team time to finish messing the game so, then, they can start fixing it =P
