PS3 shutting down

Hello community.

This problem may be likely related to 1017, but meh... One eventually lives on with that, and doesn't mind anymore. I've got to admit, I'm one of those afkers, so it kind of serves me well, since I'd wish for other AFKers so face the same FATE event. Let's not get to a rage post now.

The problem here is that, sometimes, during gameplay, the console will most likely freeze. Or, like I've been facing these past 2 days, after leaving character AFK, eat, wait till 6pm to play again, and find my PS3 shutted down. I've confirmed that none of my family plays pranks on me, so a family member trolling me shtting down the PS3 is out of the question.

It's a PS3 fat model, with a 500gb hard disk that I installed, after making a security copy of my old hard disk. While I do not mind not playing due to someone taking my spot (Congratulations), it's kind of harassing that I'm facing such problem.

If anyone knows anything on the matter, I'd thank thee if you could shed some light into the matter.

Also trolls and ragers are welcome to flame or make fun of flamers, looking forward to help calm down things in the forum.

Hi mate,

That could be a couple of things. It is possible that the network issues could freeze your PS3 however it's more likely just to boot you out of the game. Discounting network issues there is a possibility your ps3 may be overheating. Is it in a well ventilated place?

It's hard to say as you're not there when it freezes / shuts down. I'd have a look online how to take apart your ps3 and clean the fans etc. It's quite simple, you won't have to strip it right down or anything.

Check the power save setting on your Ps3, it will shut down automatically after a time if there is no activity to save power, that includes when a game is running. There are two settings, one for during video playback, and one for games, I can't remember what the default setting is, but I bet yours is set to shutdown after a few hours of inactivity.

You have to flip the karma switch OFF on your system before you afk. Otherwise I hear stuff like this can happen.

Did you ground yourself when you swapped harddrives... One static charge and your hard drive becomes a paper weight really quick (usually a few months)... The only other thing could be your settings on the ps3 and ensure that the system doesn't turn off after being idol for so long usually an hour or so... I am running mine on my ps3 as well and not having any problems... However I log out when I am done playing not saying anything bad about AFK's but I believe that by logging out I am giving other people opportunities to play...
