It will not hurt FFXIV, either way.

You still have an option to ignore you now .... You do not have to function if you do not like it. You can go look manually or try to do something with your linkshell. I hardly used the dungeon finder in WoW, because I only did runs with my guild.

Seriously cut the crap of cross-server dungeons will kill the social aspect of the game. Yes i did enjoy making parties in both FFXI and WOW(before they added cross-server auto-grouping).. It was fun and i did make a lot of friends that way. But that was way back when i was younger and had no job or anything special to do...

Now i do not have 1h+ to spend just to look for parties. 1h is pretty much the total time i can allocate to the game during a day and i don't want to waste it trying to find a party. I want to be able to login and pick up the game right away and play.

Yes some of you are hardcore gamers and spend 80% of your day in a mmo but not everyone is like that.

Also the game does not have an large enough active user base for a system where you need to look for people manually within your own server. When the game will have reached a user base above 5M and that finding a party will be quite an easy task, then i'd be glad to get rid of the cross-server system.
    You cut the crap.

I think not being able to find a party withing max 20min is what will kill FFXIV. A lot more people will be turned off by the countless hours trying to find a party then by some jerk who will ninja their goods.

    Look at it this way....

15-20min to find a party, at the end someone ninja your item. Reaction? oh well it sucks a lot but i'll get another shot in 15min.

1h-1:30h to find a party, at the end someone ninja your item. Reaction? f*@$ this game i'm done.
I'm not really wanting to debate, I just want my opinion for NO CROSS SERVER GROUPING in every thread about the subject I can find. In this way I hope to help influence SE to NOT IMPLEMENT THIS FEATURE. Thanks.

EDIT: my 200 post anniversary :O I dunno if I should celebrate or cry

I don't understand why "join now" instanced dungeons need to be cross-server. Is there any reason that these can't be just local...there's seems to be no lack of complaining about not enough space for behests. I'm sure if we had single-server dungeon instances you'd have a 4 player party kick off every 5-10 min top.

Although...I'd rather have this type of "join now" content be some sort of Open World battle that is ongoing. That you can just show up at, sign up with the Commander, and get auto grouped with a party on the front lines or some such.

Instances are good for when the world is over crowded, since the world is not exactly crowded I'd much rather see people outside and doing things.

Maybe SE should try with a server-wide one first and see how that works. Maybe cross-server isn't even really necessary.

Wonder why someone felt that his post on this subject was as special as to deserve it's own thread, considering that there are multiple already.

Nothing in anyway, shape and/or form is cross server dungeons a game breaker!!! Explain to me how it would be, don't say it destroys communities or any of the other arguments that has no solid hold in a debate.

The problem is that the atmosphere of different servers will potentially cause a "combustible chemistry" issue if cross-server content is implemented.

On top of that, the reason why even cross-server content is being discussed, is because so few people are playing the game. Ergo, low server populations. This is a solution people are thinking of in lieu of server merges. Here's the reality: Nothing cross-server should be implemented until after the PS3 launch, because as far as I am aware, there will probably be a significant improvement of player population in each server, which would negate the value of any cross-server content. If the server population does not improve after the PS3 launch, we can seriously discuss things like this.

If it's an option there is no problem. People think it has to be 100% one way or the other but they can't see that there are other solutions outside the absolute here. If you are not forced into using it, there shouldn't be any problem with adding it.
