If you're not forced to do it then don't do it. Find a group on your server that you like and do it that way.

On the other hand yes it does take away consequences of being a giant asshole but that's just how people are. With or without this feature those people will still exist and they will still act that way. Maybe to a slightly lesser extent since word on a server can travel fast but it can still come back to them.

As long as it is an option, I'm 100% okay with it existing. I'll probably never make use of it even if it does exist as long as I can just take an LS group in.
3-4 hours a night? Lucky you.... If you had a gf that would be 3-4h a week... if you live with her that becomes 3-4h a month...
