Elgato wont work, as like I said you cant record through the HDMI slot, and the Colossus wont work because its not recording through HDMI.

Il repeat this. Final Fantasy A Realm Reborn must be displayed through HDMI, but the Ps3 will not record through HDMI because of how it is made.

Therefore I cannot think of any way it is possible.

If I am wrong please correct me.

I use the AverMedia Live Gamer HD C985, a Monoprice HDMI Converter (Strips out the HDCP protection), a LOT of cables (no joke) and Open Broadcaster Software (For great x.264 encoding).

How much would you guess all of that would cost?

Hmmm. The internal video card is about $180 and requires a PCIe x1 slot in your PC (I recommend at least a duo core CPU) and the HDMI converter is $45. The cables are all pretty cheap from Amazon.com, but even then it's probably about an additional $35.
When all is said and done, you're looking at about $260 for the whole setup.

Now if you don't have a strong PC for encoding, you could probably just pick up the HDMI converter and a HD-PVR (it should work the same way as long as you strip out the HDCP protection), but I'd recommend doing some research and see if anyone has a guide out there for setting up an HD-PVR and stripping out the HDCP protection for the PS3.

I'm also just going to put this out there: My set up was a LOT more expensive than I'm letting on (mostly because I'm a perfectionist).

Due to the AverMedia Live Gamer HD's firmware, there is an audio to video sync issue that is about 0.012ms off and over a period of recording (example: beyond 30 minutes) the issue becomes pretty noticeable.
Thanks to this fact alone, my setup went from a simple $180 purchase (the video card) to about $750... I had to buy 2 internal sound cards and 3 extremely high quality audio cables to completely eradicate the problem. =\

The problem "can" be reduced with with a $9 Y-cable though and you can record about 5 hours of gameplay before you start to notice a problem... but like I said, I'm a perfectionist...
