    [Suggestion & Feedback] Weather Effects

Can we please have a way to turn down the volume of weather effects or turn the effects off?

The volume of a sand storm is deafening. I can only turn down my computer volume so much because I want to hear the sound effects and or music. Or if I am talking on Team Speak I end up shouting over it as a natural response, I feel rather silly afterwards.

I think turning down the volume would be cool.

I personally like the way it is. But it might be a problem for some people.

About turning it off... I don't like it. It would be very very useful in real life cuz I hate rain, but in game not that much ;P It's a nice feature, beautifully done and gives some depth to the world.

And unlike many other games, the weather effects are for everyone ;P I've played MMOs where it started raining for me, and I looked to my friends computer and it was sunny. It was a little stupid hehe

yes, agreed perhaps you can give us the option to turn effects off would be nice, since some storms last 1/2 an in-game day. It makes fishing less relaxing when i feel like I'm actually getting sand in my eyes^^

Just because you like them is no reason to force other to suffer them if they don't.....both a sound and visual option for turning these off needs to be added, (just like ffxi :P)

visual = no. Reduced visibility should be common for everyone.

even those who have computers that chug when the weather effect come on? Or crash? or have limited eyesight?

You guys are not thinking clearly. You want to apply how YOU wish to play the game upon everyone, instead of allowing each player the choice to play the way they wish, or may even need to.

I have a friend who is legally blind that usually plays healers in mmo (he can see the health bars), forcing this player to suffer just because you feel like they must? Is insane.

Also again this option existed with no issues for 8 years I see no real reason why it should not be re-instituted.

Did we have better visibility when we turned off the weather effects in FFXI? I haven't played it in a couple of years. From what I remember, the visibility wasn't really any better. I thought it just took the particles (w/e you call it) off, but kept a fog up so that everyone had the same visibility. It gives people with slower pc's a bit of a performance boost.

Even if you did get more visibility when turning weather effects off, I don't really think it gives you an advantage. Whenever I have low visibility, I just use my minimap more, which negates all the possible benefits of having more visibility. At least that is my opinion.

Its not really about that, Jake. I think the low visibility when a sandstorm comes, for example, makes players be more alert to monsters (well not so much anymore since the icon was implemented XD). But you chose to play in this world, and if in that world is raining, why should you be able to turn it off? :S

So, I think it's quite nice. And you can always talk about the weather when you meet people XD

I love the weather effects but sometimes they do cause me to crash or lag out in busier places. It would be a nice option if you could switch it off, i am sure it would help a lot of people and even though my PC runs the game fine it still does have the odd splutter with the weather. In FFXI this was a nice option and one that i think has been overlooked, hopefully it will be implemented.
